[Adapted from: The God of Healing]
When we left off, in a previous excerpt, from The God of Healing, we were speaking about the various ways that God intervenes in our health and the health of loved ones -- in healing. It isn't always a magical "zap"! (Though it is sometimes.)
Open your heart. Look up, not down. This is the beginning of it.
This is tilling the soil.
Take the initiative.
A nurse who had cervical cancer changed her diet, ate smaller portions, and reduced her intake of fatty, refined foods, and processed foods. Her diet became a simple one of whole grains and beans. With it she freed herself from the threat of cancer. In the process, her chronic lower-back pain, stuffed nose, blocked sinuses, psoriasis, and pre-menstrual syndrome also vanished (and she was able to lose weight; being overweight is a major factor in cancer).
Always, pray for the right doctor.
Light overcomes darkness (including physical darkness) when we let it.
A fellow on chemotherapy insists he "woke up in the middle of the night one night, and just as clearly as I'm speaking to you right now, I heard God tell me, 'It's over. It's finished. It's done. Stop taking the treatments.' The peace of God was on me, and I said, 'God, You told me to do it, so that's exactly what I'm going to do.'" He was healed. (Although, remember that the Lord can speak through doctors!)
Said a woman named Gill from St. Albans in England, "As soon as the suspicion arose that I might have cancer I started to look into natural remedies and changed my whole diet accordingly. [Here are foods that Jesus ate.]
"I believe that this change in diet, fresh-vegetable juicing, and taking nutritional supplements which are known to fight cancer really strengthen my immune system and helped me cope with all the stress of being in and out of hospital for examinations and scans.
"After a great deal of prayer, I decided to have surgery (a hysterectomy), but no other medical treatment whatsoever. My consultant referred me to different specialists for scans and MRI. I was scheduled for surgery in mid-April and he wanted to make sure that the cancer had not spread. When I went in for surgery the Lord provided me with nurses and other medical staff who looked after me and comforted and encouraged me to keep my eyes on God, particularly when none of my family or friends could be with me.
"The surgery went very well and the following day my consultant remarked on how well I looked and asked if I had a blood transfusion as I did not look pale. Later my consultant, who had been my surgeon, stated that he was very surprised that the tumor had not spread and was in fact smaller than what was shown in the scan. As I opted against any further treatment he removed the surrounding glands to be sure that the cancer was complete removed. To the surprise of the nurses and doctors I recovered very quickly and without any complications.
"A couple of weeks after surgery we were called in to see the consultant to receive the results of the biopsy of the removed glands. The consultant was astonished to discover that all the glands were completely free of cancer. I believe that the Lord worked this miracle and shrank the tumor to a much smaller size and destroyed the cancer lurking in my pelvis. At the moment I have to go in every six months for a check-up, but I have received a letter from the hospital stating that there is no concern that the cancer will return!"
Pray, hope, and don't worry, said Padre Pio -- who himself once shook off a dire diagnosis.
Seek balance in every aspect of your life.
