In Greek mythology a chimera is a fire-breathing creature whose appearance precedes natural disasters.

In the old lore, a chimera is an imaginary monster made up of grotesquely disparate parts and is often represented as the combination of a lion, goat, and serpent. One may also see it as an old pagan-style man-creature.

Such is intensely interesting at a time when scientists are meddling with the very constructs of what God created and producing transgenic animals that in fact have been nicknamed "chimeras."

In short, our geneticists are bringing ancient and dark mythology to life under the guise of beneficial medicine.

Consider that in the past three years, scientists have created pigs with human blood, fused rabbit eggs with human DNA, and injected human stem cells to make paralyzed mice walk.

There are now mice that have human brain cells. There are goats that have a single human gene that allows them to produce a life-saving drug in their milk. There are chicks that make new proteins in their eggs. There are the reports of attempts to create human-pig embryos.

Researchers assure us that if a truly human brain grows in a mouse, they will destroy it. Stanford University law professor Hank Greely, who chairs an ethics committee overseeing such research, does not think the size of a mouse head would allow any traits of humanity. But just in case, he says, the committee is recommending close monitoring and urges the killing of any mice that display human-like behavior!

This meddling, whatever the "safeguards," is a travesty, and comes hard on the heels of animal cloning that's now so common it doesn't make the news any longer.

There are cloned sheep, horses, dogs, cats, rats, mice, chimps -- you name it, with humans not far behind.

As one preacher pointed out, the Bible says that God requires humans, animals, and plants to reproduce "after their own kind." The integrity of a species was therefore required by God. "Transgenics not only violates this order," he noted, "but opens a Pandora's box to a potential molecular nightmare."

Could it be that in secret scientists already have created a human brain in a non-human organism?

We're not sure of that, but we do know that when we try to equal God as Creator, we are doing what Satan did when he attempted to ascend to the Throne. It is the high sin of Lucifer.

Nor is it just animals. We also have already created genetically-altered crops. In fact, they are already on sale at your local produce department. Corn. Apples. Soy. Today such crops have been planted on at least 167 million acres.

With nanotechnology (the use of tiny mechanisms to cause effects on the molecular level), we arrive at an even more profound level of disruption.

And it all reminds us of two prophecies granted 14 years apart to the same anonymous person.

The first, in December of 1990, warned tha65t in four years, mankind would face a decision over a new evil. It would "arrive almost imperceptibly," said the alleged prophecy, "with few people noticing the depth of its evil, for it will appear to have beneficial and convenient aspects."

Four years later, in 1994, huge strides in both science and legislation quietly set the stage for the first cloning of a mammal ('Dolly" the sheep, which has since died due to birth defects).

The prophecy also warned of natural disasters that would come as chastisements and that indeed picked up momentum in that decade. Chimeras. Disasters.

On December 22, 2004, a second part of the prophecy was revealed, stating that "There is going to be a major disruption in a region of the world that will affect everyone. The world is now seriously out of conformance with the Will of God and what He created and intended. There are those who would reconfigure the very creatures He has formed, and who meddle with the texture of life. For this reason, the Lord will allow a huge reorientation. If not for the action of Heaven, what God has created on earth will soon be damaged beyond recovery. A very dramatic effect already is in progress as regards the support structures of what man calls  nature. Such cannot be allowed to take the final realization of total realignment when it comes to the very way elements and life forces interact."

Is that a true prophetic "word" -- and if so, is the mentioned "disruption" a reference to the Asian tsunami that took place just days later (on December 26, 2004), or something yet in the future?

Whatever the case, the meddling with nature at the very tiniest levels -- with the "texture of life" -- can  no longer be denied.

Nor can the natural disasters. The 1990 prophecy was followed by a brutal wildfire that caused $1 billion in damage in Oakland (1991), the worst hurricane up to that point, Hurricane Andrew, with $30 billion damage (1992), an historic hurricane on Kauai, Hawaii (1992), the massive flooding of the Mississippi in 1993, the L.A. quake less than a year later, the onset of record El Ninos, causing general weather mayhem in various parts of the world (1991-1997), record "northeasters" on the East Coast during the 1990s, including the "perfect storm," and in 1998 an absolutely unprecedented ice storm in Canada.

We hardly have to mention what has occurred since that time and in particular since 2004.

Suffice it to say that 2005 set the record as the year of costliest natural events in recorded history, with more to come, if we accept the prophecy. "The angels have their instruction from east to west," it claimed, "and now a timetable has been set in motion."
