For Your Discernment: 1990 'Prophecy' Foreseeing Events Followed By New One
By Michael H. Brown
First story
[The following was scheduled for posting last week, before the tsunami; we don't believe it is related to that event, nor that the 'glow' has to do with a glow reported in the Arctic, rather something in the future, but we leave that up to you, in accordance with Scripture's admonishment not to despise prophecy but to test the spirit and keep what is good; it is presented in that Spirit.]
Years ago we brought you an alleged revelation that in retrospect seemed startlingly prescient. Our purpose, in part, has always been to give air to the prophetic element, which in modern times is ignored by so much of the Church (in strange conflict with Scripture).
Naturally, one should be very careful and highly discerning. But we believe that as in Jesus' time, and before that (throughout the Old Testament), prophecy has its place (see 1 Corinthians 14:1), and that we should heed that which seems to have the possibility of authenticity.
Such seemed to be the case with the anonymous "locution" granted on December 3, 1990, which we have previously quoted and which among other things foresaw a time of regional "chastisements" (events that would come to purify various parts of the world); a "cloud" hanging over New York (warning that's its "pride" would be "broken," which could be related to the World Trade Center, known as the "pride of New York"); and a "new evil" that was quickly approaching, "the likes of which mankind has never before encountered," but one which had a reproductive element and would appear to be "beneficial" on the surface. It said such would arrive in four years, and 1994 was indeed a year of breakthroughs (as well as regulations changes) as regards cloning.
It has been fourteen years now since that reputed (and still anonymous) "revelation," which seemed to be from the Lord. For the first time since, there has come a new locution from the same source and in the same fashion -- strikingly similar, and if nothing else, food for thought. We'll let you decide. It was reportedly received in the early morning hour of December 22 and reads as follows:
"There is going to be a major disruption in a region of the world that will affect everyone. The world is now seriously out of conformance with the Will of God and what He created and intended. There are those who would reconfigure the very creatures He has formed, and who meddle with the texture of life. For this reason, the Lord will allow a huge reorientation. If not for the action of Heaven, what God has created on earth will soon be damaged beyond recovery. A very dramatic effect already is in progress as regards the support structures of what man calls nature. Such cannot be allowed to take the final realization of total realignment when it comes to the very way elements and life forces interact. The event to come will surprise everyone who has offered a prognostication, and will show even recalcitrant scientists, though not all, that there is a fundamental alarm in Heaven over their arrogant and wayward course. Nothing that is artificial in a way that disrupts what God intended will be allowed to stand.
"Heed this too: the politics of denial will be struck as with a plague.
"The smallest of what lives is precious in My sight.
"The angels have their instruction from east to west, and now a timetable has been set in motion.
"When the huge light is seen, I will act in a way I have not acted before."
It was an unusual light, seen in the skies over Europe, that constituted the "great sign" of Fatima in 1939.

A Commentary on the “1990 Prophecy”: Medjugorje, the Pope of Fatima, and the Delay
By Matthew Tsakanikas
Second story
When the Vatican published the Third Secret of Fatima during the Great Jubilee, it contained an Introduction with Sister Lucia’s “May 1982 Letter to the Pope” in which we were reminded that the secret was “conditioned” by our response. Then Secretary of the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith, Tarcisio Bertone, commented: “The action of God, the Lord of history, and the co-responsibility of man in the drama of his creative freedom, are the two pillars upon which human history is built. Our Lady, who appeared at Fatima, recalls these forgotten values. She reminds us that man’s future is in God, and that we are active and responsible partners in creating that future.”
Many people who believe our Lady has been appearing to the visionaries in Medjugorje since 1981 should notice that the events foretold in Fatima may well have sparked the apparitions. The assassination attempt on the Pope on May 13, just one month before the Medjugorje apparitions began, was most likely permitted as a providential warning that if we did not do our part (the collegial consecration of Russsia to the Immaculate Heart), then the final chastisements were about to unfold with nations being annihilated; just as Lucia warned in 1982:”And if we have not yet seen the complete fulfillment of the final part of this prophecy, we are going towards it little by little with great strides…God warns us and calls us to the right path, while respecting the freedom He has given us; hence people are responsible.”
Thus, our Lady began her apparitions in Medjugorje on the Feast of St. John the Baptist, symbolically calling us to the “right path” laid out at Fatima…urgency of repentance and warning of chastisements about to unfold. Secrets were given to visionaries, but mysteriously their dispensation was dramatically slowed and 23 years later have still not all been given to all the visionaries. The most likely reason is the impact of Pope John Paul II’s March 1984 collegial consecration of the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. It must have totally changed the future and bought mankind a great time of grace. Paradoxically, it may have been through all the prayers and sacrifices spurred by Medjugorje that the 1984 Consecration was obtained by Mary.
We must take seriously that our response to God does change the future and alters what might have been. This may even explain that there are six different visionaries getting secrets much later than the others, but only one has been chosen to deliver them. It may be that the last one to receive the “secrets” will have received the finalized scenario based on man’s response. Man’s free response will have been fully taken into account. In the words of Tarcisio Bertone’s “Introduction” to the Vatican release of the Third Secret: “[The Virgin] reminds us that man’s future is in God, and that we are active and responsible partners in creating that future.”
Thus, when reflecting on the stunning “1990 Prophecy” on SpiritDaily, we must test the Spirit, but see that it gives us similar reminders about the future’s dependency on our response today. Here are sample quotes of those reminders from that prophecy: “This evil is being allowed as a test because of the prayers inspired by Mary to put off chastisements;” “How mankind responds to this new evil will determine the extent, length, and severity of the first chastisements;” “This, according to mankind's response [to the first chastisements], will then be followed by another chastisement, or the inevitable onset of the change of era.”
The “inevitable onset of the change of era” may well be where Medjugorje and the “1990 Prophecy” all intersect with Christ’s Divine Mercy appearance before his appearance as the Just Judge as recorded by Saint Faustina.

Taking Prophetic Word Seriously Means That After Tsunami Will Come Much More
by Michael Brown
Third story
It came several days before Christmas, on December 22, and we sat on it for more than a week, bringing it to discernment. Did that take it beyond the first event it mentioned, did it outdate it? We speak here of what we are now calling the "2004 prophecy" -- the first detailed follow-up to a prophecy from the same source in 1990, a full 14 years before.
We give truck to the prophetic word here, in keeping with the admonitions of the New Testament, and this pre-Christmas prophecy started with the words, "There is going to be a major disruption in a region of the world that will affect everyone..."
Four days later, the world bore horrifying witness to the great Christmas tsunami that so far has cost more than 150,000 lives and for its display before the world media and for the breadth of its effects -- 11 nations! -- stands as the greatest natural event of our generation (so far).
This was clearly a graduation of events. A prophetic alarm had been rung.
But was it what the 2004 prophecy indicated?
While on the surface it seemed so -- and while the timing of the 2004 prophecy certainly indicated that there was some kind of connection -- the question remains of just what that connection was. While the Asian tsunami certainly qualified as a "major disruption," and while it occurred in a particular "region," affecting many, there is still the question of whether one could truly consider it as an event that affected "everyone" in the way that was meant.
It certainly shook people up. Even the most secular of the religious websites showed a strong number -- nearly fifty percent -- who thought that whether or not it was a "punishment," God had been involved, someway, in sending the disaster. In other surveys, the number was higher, and major clerics weighed in, making the connection between the tsunami and God's displeasure -- whether they were Catholics, Protestants, Muslims, or Buddhists.
At least for the moment, it was an extraordinary display of reversion to the beliefs of our forefathers that God speaks through natural events (that is, ancestors who predated the "Renaissance").
But did it "affect" everyone? Did it fill the prophecy's prediction of something that would have a global impact?
"Affect" means to have an influence on or cause a change in, to touch on the emotions, and it certainly did some (perhaps even a lot) of that.
But let's dig deeper: The 2004 prophecy also said that, "the event to come will surprise everyone who has offered a prognostication, and will show even recalcitrant scientists, though not all, that there is a fundamental alarm in Heaven over their arrogant and wayward course."
Did the tsunami really "affect" scientists in such a manner? Did they begin to re-evaluate themselves?
Or is there something else on the way, something of greater alarm and magnitude?
We have to believe the latter, though we respect the discernment of all. Should it cause fear? Not at all. Everything that God does or allows is for our betterment, and through prayer, wars can be stopped and natural laws can be suspended. That is the value of prophecy -- which in our modern post-French Revolution times has been all but discarded.
We take the prophecy seriously because the previous one in 1990 was on the mark as related to the coming of cloning, regional chastisements, and September 11. Said the alleged new one, granted in anonymous fashion: "Nothing that is artificial in a way that disrupts what God intended will be allowed to stand. Heed this too: the politics of denial will be struck as with a plague. The smallest of what lives is precious in My sight. The angels have their instruction from east to west, and now a timetable has been set in motion."
That sounds like the tsunami was a part of a run of events, and the timing indicates that the Lord, if this is real, timed it when He did knowing that in the wake of the tsunami it would get more than the unusual attention.
But we also believe that something else -- or rather, a number of other things -- are on the way. The tsunami is coupled with the hurricanes and winds in Europe and weather in California, which are all leading up -- if you will forgive a prognostication -- to much more.
