A monument-building startup said on social media that it is planning to build a 500-foot statue of George Washington with a stainless-steel exterior.
The organization More Monuments said on X that the statue of the nation’s first president will also feature a 150-foot concrete pedestal, bringing the monument to 650 feet. The statue will be named “The Colossus of George.” It is unclear how long it will take to complete the monument, but a 50-foot plaster will be revealed on July 4, 2026, to coincide with the nation’s 250th birthday.
