From the Providence Journal:
The hope that authorities were close to making an arrest in the mass shooting at Brown University on Dec. 13 was dashed in a late-night press conference held Dec. 14.
It was then that authorities said that the “person of interest” detained in the Brown University shooting was being released. “We want to inform the community that that individual will shortly be released from Providence Police,” Mayor Brett Smiley said in a surprise briefing that took place at 11 p.m. on the night of Sunday, Dec. 14.
