Fact: surgical-quality face masks reduce the spread of Covid and viral load even if some cloth masks are less effective. So why did Anthony Fauci originally discourage face mask usage amongst the U.S. population at the start of the Covid crisis (March 8, 2020) and later “change” his mind? After all, for decades surgeons in first-world countries have worn masks to reduce viral and bacterial spread. Prior to Covid-19, nurses who didn’t take “flu” shots simply had to wear a surgical mask in hospitals during influenza season to prevent the spread of the influenza virus per hospital policies. Healthcare workers mask-up before going in rooms where airborne viruses are present. It’s hardly sincere to argue that Dr. Fauci did not understand corona viruses as the head of NIHAID or that he was unfamiliar with the accepted purposes of such face masks.
Here is the most probable answer to the question about Fauci’s initial advice: discouraging face masks was Fauci’s first “noble lie” to prevent a surgical mask shortage for hospital workers at that time. Now, if he really believed his original advice about masks, of course it was not a lie, just another incompetent doctor believing his own bull and blustering with egoism. Either way, he was abusing his position. Americans probably prefer to believe that what Fauci did was a noble lie rather than incompetence. That way we don’t insult his intelligence nor feel like a moron has been heading our pandemic response. Rightly so, Senator Rand Paul wants Fauci charged with lying to Congress about funding gain-of-function research. Lying about masks to the media is certainly a lesser charge than lying to Congress.
Once surgical mask supply was secured, the NIH and CDC reversed direction and advocated face masks for everyone (or quality cloth masks when surgical ones are not available). Fauci “updated” his advice under the pretext he had received new information about a standard-sized airborne coronavirus. Yes, scratch your head that he had no data on how coronaviruses spread as head of NIHAID. He also “updated” his advice upon the pretext that he received new information that asymptomatic people could spread the virus. How was this news that asymptomatic people spread viruses? He headed America’s response to AIDS & HIV 35 years ago. The noble lie seems more tenable with recent evidence suggesting he lied to Congress.
My family benefitted from the first noble lie and understood Fauci’s good intentions, though we disagreed with his advice. We continued to encourage people to wear masks when appropriate despite Fauci’s bad advice in March 2020. The road to hell is paved with good intentions. My wife was an ER nurse at the time and the hospital was asking for community help to get masks for hospital workers when Fauci gave his first Covid fib. Thankfully the local Catholic chaplain helped round-up some for us as we had real concerns with how things spread in the early days. Later, some folks figured that if Fauci hadn’t lied, frontline healthcare workers in stricken areas could have run out of masks while treating patients. Afterall, we all saw what happened to toilet paper supplies. Nevertheless, the effects of that first noble lie upon the U.S. population has been confusion about the effectiveness of face masks ever since. But, it gets much worse…
The same NIH of Collins and Fauci later established guidelines not to hospitalize Covid patients until they were so severely ill that they required oxygen. I know, like many of you, I was one of those patients who tried getting help sooner, but could not. I later ended up in an ICU with Covid pneumonia, pulmonary embolisms, hypoxic, broken ribs from coughing too much, and being asked by the ICU nurse on the first night if I wanted to be revived if I died. With the pain I was in and already injured ribs, no I didn’t. The NIH’s involvement in affecting local hospital guidelines is clear and I have consulted with lawyers familiar with the guidelines to gather the facts. The NIH guidelines caused hospitals not to help patients in need even when patient census was low.
Was I ever vaccinated? I got sick with Covid-19 exactly 3 days after my first BioNTech Pfizer vaccine in April 2021. I took the vaccine as soon as I could and encouraged my family members who’d been working on the frontline in healthcare to take it months earlier. My wife was probably the first people vaccinated in my county in December 2020 and my sons working in healthcare were vaccinated by January 2021. I was a “pro-vaxxer” concerning the experimental mRNA vaccine as all my fellow professors and friends at the college can attest. It’s much more attenuated now after all the VAERS reports; including my own attempts.
So, why did the NIH give such horrible guidelines not to help patients sooner? They wanted to ensure there were beds for the severely sick which their anti-prophylaxis and anti-early treatment guidelines were causing. After repeatedly being denied proven prophylaxis and dual-purposed medications by doctors when my Covid pneumonia started – even having blood tests proving terrible inflammation factors and x-rays of the severe Covid pneumonia that was worsening – I was denied hospital admission. Five days later I was back in the emergency room and then admitted to the ICU with blood clots (pulmonary embolisms) filling my lungs. Still on blood-thinners today, and for which I blame NIH lies and failures, I want to reveal the liars and corrupt people and organizations behind the noble lies. These are the very people whose guidelines are filling our hospitals unnecessarily with Covid patients. They should admit their lies and repent. It is not the fault of the unvaccinated.
Medical doctors were dissuaded by government, media, and big-tech from using experimental prophylaxis and re-purposed drugs in early treatment of Covid patients. Outright lies and misinformation were purposefully spread. It was worse than noble lies and many believe it is designed to stop re-purposed medications which were showing promise of resisting the virus. Like the noble lies about masks, once the promise of experimental vaccines appeared, then policies changed again. Big pharma, big government, and big media shut down experimental re-purposed drug conversations so as to encourage EXPERIMENTAL vaccines. The American Medical Association is even trying to stop pharmacies from filling real prescriptions of ivermectin by doctors. Like the big pharma executives who lack medical training, and like Biden’s Covid-response Czar (Jeff Zients) who has no training in medicine, I still believe experimental vaccines are more effective in the short-term than prophylaxis and re-purposed medicines. However, that does not give anyone the right to lie about ivermectin…even for a noble purpose. The long term also raises serious questions.
Real medical experts in the field of Covid treatment and those who were advocating ivermectin began to be silenced and canceled on social media in view of the probability of early emergency experimental vaccine approval. The shut-down of experts included Dr. Kory who successfully treated patients at ground zero of NYC in the first surge of Covid in May 2020. This expert in lung diseases later testified before the U.S. Senate about the effectiveness of ivermectin in preventing and treating Covid. Dr. Robert Malone – who invented the technologies for the experimental mRNA vaccine – also encourages the use of ivermectin. Multiple countries which used ivermectin successfully reduced the spread of Covid. Dr. Haruo Ozaki, Chairman of the Tokyo Medical Association, advocated for the approval of ivermectin in the treatment of Covid in August.
The noble lie, or rather the outright lie, in the United States that ivermectin doesn’t work or is ineffective is designed to force people to take the vaccine because the vaccine is more effective in the short-term for a pandemic (the vaccine apparently being effective for about 5 to 6 months before needing boosters for the elderly). Studies on acquired immunity after infection are also very promising and show as much and longer effectiveness than vaccines. For this reason even Europe considers recovered Covid patients as immune like the vaccinated. Natural immunity is a well-established principle in virology and doesn’t even require further study contrary to more lies.
What is the effect of lying about ivermectin and other re-purposed drugs? Running articles that ivermectin is for cattle, when it was first invented for humans and received a Noble Prize in 2015? The effect is greater hospitalization rates and deaths amongst the unvaccinated who cannot get proper help due to all the noble lies which have only caused confusion, anger, and lack of actual prophylaxis. Running such articles has killed people and divided the nation.
The government now blames the unvaccinated for the situation it has created by blocking re-purposed drugs so people cannot access them. Like Cuomo and his nursing home failures, doctors and the AMA don’t want to have to admit they’ve been negligent in failing to use re-purposed drugs. How many of their own family members have they failed? The government and assisting-media has created a very real pandemic by their lying. Now pharmacies are cooperating with the lies and will not fill prescriptions of ivermectin. Why are the “unvaccinated” filling our hospitals and being scapegoated? The NIH, CDC, big tech, big pharma, big media, AMA, and lying politicians have misrepresented the vaccines and prophylaxis. Thankfully, leading FDA officials have resigned in protest in refusing to participate in all the misrepresentations. Where is the media in covering the honorable FDA officials?
What’s the answer to fighting Covid? Let’s smarten-up and advocate both the approved vaccines and use of prophylaxis without fascist mandates. Let’s give all the facts for informed consent and not just propaganda. Let’s stop killing our citizens with noble lies for political and monetary gain. Since when do doctors not treat patients in need? Not treating patients in order to punish them is fascist and illegal. As a Catholic theologian let me be clear: lying not only makes the person a liar, it ruins communities and divides nations. The Washington Post is correct: “Democracy dies in darkness.” The problem is that the carriers of the lies are just as guilty of keeping us in darkness.
