Michael: Very good article today on the United Nations Chapel. It is true. I read a book about it several years ago.
One editorial correction: The United Nations’ “chapel” where Joe Biden married Bill Stevenson’s wife, Jill Stevenson, is in a separate building which is on the same United Nations grounds. The “chapel” you mentioned is within the U.N. Building, the wedding “chapel” is in a separate building and is where the Biden “wedding” occurred. (Biden’s older sister was also married there.)
It does not change the fact that a “devout” “catholic” did not marry within a Catholic Church.
Below is a picture of the “altar” (table?) used in wedding ceremonies. I live near the Basilica of Holy Hill. Both of their Churches leave the original altars unused and have similar “tables” where the Novus Ordo Mass is said. The “tables” help inculcate lack of belief in the Real Presence. At Holy Hill’s Chapel of St. Therese, the original altar front shows Elias. I have often contemplated this; for in 3 Kings (1 Kings) Chapter 18 [Douay-Rheims] ; we read how Elias established a True Altar versus a False Altar. God accepted the sacrifice made upon the True Altar. Why do many Catholic Churches now resemble a non-denominational United Nation’s chapel? Non-denominational means they do not recognized Christ as King, nor the Triune God.
U.N Altar set for a wedding.
Keep up the good work.
Yours in Christ.
