AN ALL-ENCOMPASSING VISION SPECIFIC TO OUR TIMES
THE TRIUMPH OF THE IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY,
THE FULFILLMENT OF THE PRAYER “THY KINGDOM COME”
and A FEAST HONOURING THE FATHERHOOD OF GOD
Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich, German Stigmatic and Victim Soul (1774-1824) was given many visions of future events. One vision in particular appears to pertain specifically to our present times and is supported by recent apparitions and prophetic words:
“When the combat on earth was over, the Cross [that appeared in the heavens] also vanished and in its place stood a tall, resplendent lady extending over it her mantle of golden rays. I felt the kingdom of God was near. I perceived a new splendour, a higher life in all nature, and a holy emotion in all mankind. Then I saw a great feast in St. Peter’s, which, after the victorious battle, shone like the sun. I saw numerous processions entering it. I saw a new Pope, earnest and energetic. I saw before the feast began a great many bad bishops and pastors expelled by him. I saw the petition: ‘Lord, Thy Kingdom come’, being verified.” (1)
In Blessed Catherine’s vision, she saw “combat on earth [ending in a] victorious battle.” A prophetic address given by Cardinal Karol Wojtyla (Saint John Paul II) in 1976 confirms her vision of an impending intense battle for the Church:
“We are now standing in the face of the greatest historical confrontation humanity has ever experienced. We are now facing the final confrontation between the Church and the anti-church, between the gospel and the anti-gospel, between Christ and the Antichrist. The confrontation lies within the plans of Divine Providence. It is, therefore, in God’s Plan, and it must be a trial which the Church must take up, and face courageously.” (2)
So, too, the Catechism of the Catholic Church states that the Church must undergo Her own passion, death, and resurrection, in imitation of Jesus Christ, Her Head. (CCC 675, 677)
Blessed Catherine spoke of a “Cross [that appeared in the heavens].” This too has been confirmed by the words of Jesus to St. Faustina: “…Before the day of justice arrives, this sign in the sky will be given to mankind. All light in the heavens will be extinguished, and there will be great darkness over the whole earth. Then the sign of the Cross will be seen in the sky, and from the holes where the hands and the feet of the Savior were nailed will come forth a brilliant light, which will illuminate the earth for a period of time.” (3)
After the Cross had vanished, Blessed Catherine saw in its place: “A tall, resplendent lady extending over [the earth] her mantle of golden rays.” This part of her vision confirms what Our Lady told the children at Fatima. In the third apparition of Fatima, on July 13, 1917, Our Lady had warned the children of an immense struggle that humanity would be forced to endure. But she promised: “In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to me, and the earth shall enjoy an era of peace.”
Blessed Catherine saw “a great many bad bishops and pastors expelled” from the Church. This part of her vision is reflected in the deep concern by the Vatican, including many cardinals and bishops throughout the world, that the German bishops are embarking on a path of “progressive” reforms that risk fracturing Church unity. It is feared that such a schism will ultimately impact the Church globally. A recent statement from the Vatican has warned the German bishops that such progressive changes are “not lawful” and that such churches will “weaken, rot, and die.” (4)
After the battle, Catherine saw “a new splendour, a higher life in all nature, and a holy emotion in all mankind.”
The term “holy emotion in all mankind” matches a term used by recent popes – i.e. “a civilization of love.”
The term was first coined by Pope Saint Paul VI–“a concept rooted in the Second Vatican Council.”
In many writings, Pope Saint John Paul II further developed the concept.
And according to Pope Benedict XVI, a “civilization of love” ultimately means achieving a culture of love leading to “the way of universal brotherhood.”
Blessed Catherine saw the petition: “Lord, Thy Kingdom come,” being verified.” Through messages given to him by Our Lady, Father Stefano Gobbi, founder of the Marian Movement of Priests, understood that the invocation “Thy Kingdom Come” was on the cusp of fulfilment. (“In this perfect fulfilment of the Divine Will, creation will return almost to its original state – to a new earthly paradise, in which all creatures will say ‘yes’ to the Will of the Heavenly Father”). (5)
In this Kingdom of the Divine Will, Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta, [allegedly] understood from Jesus that a soul will live inseparable from the Heavenly Father: “If the Father thinks, she makes hers the thoughts of the Father…she does not live outside but inside of the Father so that she is the reflection and perfect likeness of the Father.” (6)
And in apparitions to Mirjana Soldo of Medjugorje, Our Lady is calling each of us to embrace this very personal relationship with God the Father: “With motherly love I desire to open the heart of each of you and to teach you personal unity with The Father. To accept this, you must comprehend that you are important to Him and that He is calling you individually. Open yourselves to the Father. God the Father never leaves His children alone, especially not in pain and despair. My Son saved you and opened the way to the Heavenly Father. I implore you to keep opening the way to the Heavenly Father for all those who have not come to know Him and have not opened their hearts to His love.” (7)
Finally, Blessed Catherine writes of seeing a “great feast in St. Peter’s … after the victorious battle.” Jesus said that He came to make the Father known. (Luke 10:22) The parable of the Prodigal Son is His greatest revelation of His Father (Luke 15: 11-32). And in the parable a great feast is central in the reunion of Son and Father.
It can be argued that this “great feast” will be the fulfilment of a specific request given by God the Father to Mother Eugenia Ravasio in 1932.
In Church approved messages, God the Father told Mother Eugenia of His desire for a liturgical Feast to be established in the Church—a special Feast to honour His Fatherhood over all humanity. He specifically asked that it be either the first Sunday in August or the 7th of August.
Like the father in the parable of the Prodigal son, such a feast will bring God the Father immense joy: “My joy is being among you…if only you knew how much I desire to be known loved and honoured by humanity through a special devotion!” (8) Such a feast would mark the fulfilment of the Church’s continuing prayer to the Father “Thy Kingdom Come.” It would mark a renewed unity for all humanity with its Father in a “civilization of love.” And it would mark “a new splendor” in the church—her “resurrection.”
