A Roman Catholic priest was knifed to death in his church in Myanmar by members of an anti-junta rebel group, an official and the head of the country’s bishops’ conference has said.

Reverend Donald Martin Ye Naing Win was attacked on Feb 14 by 10 members of a “people’s defence force” (PDF) in central Sagaing region’s Shwebo township. Myanmar is four years into a bloody civil conflict between the junta and various armed groups, including PDFs – bands of former civilians who have taken up arms to oust the generals from power.
