From June Klins (Spirit of Medjugorje):
“On the 5th of February, we celebrate Saint Agatha, a virgin and martyr and we pray to her to protect us from fires. She was burned alive by Decius in Sicily in the year 251 AD. When my dad was a child, around the year 1923, they lived out in the country area of a little town called “Springbrook,” and two of his brothers were smoking in the barn, and the barn, and then their house caught on fire and burned everything to the ground! My dad and his 8 brothers and sisters and my grandmother and grandfather had to stay in neighbors’ and relatives’ homes until they could build another home from scratch. The family was split all over the place, and after they were reunited again, my grandmother always had a prayer to Saint Agatha in the kitchen, bedrooms, parlor, and even one in the outhouse (they had no indoor plumbing until the late 1950s), to protect them from any future fires!”
“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace” (Numbers 6:24-26).
