A day before the anniversary of the death of Father Stephen Gutgsell, the man accused of his murder filed a notice he intends to argue he is not responsible for the killing by reason of insanity.
Facing a first-degree murder charge, Kierre Williams was scheduled to appear in in Washington County Court on Thursday, Dec. 19, for a status hearing. The notice was filed on Monday. In February, Williams entered a plea of “not guilty” in the stabbing death of a Catholic priest in a Fort Calhoun church rectory.
