From Dom Radio:
In the diocese of Passau, there was a noticeable accumulation of burglaries in churches in September. A total of 15 places of worship were the target of thefts and vandalism within a month, according to the diocese from Tuesday. As a rule, the loot damage was out of proportion to the property damage. According to the diocese’s financial director, Josef Sonnleitner, the damage was considerable “in the low five-figure range.” The frequency of the crimes is particularly worrying: “We usually record about fifteen to twenty burglaries in an entire year, and now we’ve already had fifteen cases in September alone.”
