From Fox News:
President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Monday to encourage domestic prescription drug manufacturing and cut down on the time it takes to approve U.S. pharmaceutical plants.
The White House estimates that it could currently take five to 10 years to construct new manufacturing capacity for pharmaceuticals, describing that as “unacceptable” from a national security standpoint, according to a White House fact sheet. “We don’t want to be buying our pharmaceuticals from other countries because if we’re in a war, we’re in a problem, we want to be able to make our own,” Trump said in the fact sheet. “We will produce our medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, and treatments right here in the United States.”
