CDF Notification Regarding the Present Ecclesiastical Status of the<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Apparitions of the Queen of the Rosary and of Peace in Itapiranga, Brazil<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The reported apparitions and subsequent messages from the \u201cQueen of the Rosary and of Peace,\u201d as received by the visionary, Edson Glauber Cloutinho, have, up to the present time, received several forms of official ecclesiastical approval.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a \u201cDecree of Worship,\u201d dated January 31, 2010, Dom Carillo Gritti, Bishop of Itacoatiara, granted official Church approval for pilgrimages and public worship to be celebrated in the chapel where the apparitions of the Queen of the Rosary and of Peace first took place:<\/span><\/p>\n

“After carefully studying the events, I authorize these pilgrimages and the public cult to be celebrated in the chapel or in the area known as ‘The Cross,’ to invoke Our Lady under the title of Queen of the Rosary and of Peace\u2026 This Order of Worship (<\/span>Decreto de Culto<\/span><\/em>)<\/span> <\/span>seeks to promote the spiritual life of God\u2019s people arriving here to honor the apparitions of Our Lady, the devotion of which originated in this place (<\/span>Official Itacoatiara Diocesan Decree, January 31, 2010).”<\/span><\/p>\n

In a further public diocesan letter by Bishop Gritti which makes reference to the May 2, 2010, initiation of a sanctuary specifically requested in the apparitions, Bishop Gritti acknowledged the visionary, Edson Glauber Cloutinho as \u201ca sincere and devout bearer of visions worthy of being appreciated.\u201d In the same document, Bishop Gritti goes on to state: \u201cThe conversions that only God, through the intercession of Mary, can operate have been for me, and other enlightened souls, enough and sufficient reason to see in the visions and messages, the finger of God.\u201d Moreover, the first line of the letter by Bishop Gritti directly stated that \u201cOur Lady manifested herself to Edson Glauber Cloutinho.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

It was precisely this strong ecclesiastical support<\/span> from Bishop Gritti (who died in 2016), that first led me to particular interest to the Itapiranga apparitions back in 2014. I was then informed that the messages had not yet been translated into English, and therefore undertook the process of commissioning three native Brazilian Portuguese translators to make the messages of the Queen of the Rosary and of Peace available to the English-speaking world. The book, <\/span>The Three Hearts<\/span><\/em><\/a><\/span>,<\/em> was first published on October 13, 2017, and constitutes a synthesis of the \u201cheart\u201d of the messages, as identified by the visionary, Edson Glauber.<\/span><\/p>\n

On November 30, 2017, a news report on the <\/span>Spirit Daily<\/span><\/em> website stated that the Vatican Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith sent an \u201cinternal letter\u201d to the Diocese of Itacoatiara. In this CDF letter, which is reportedly a response to a previous letter from one local diocesan administrator who allegedly conveyed questionable information regarding the apparitions and surrounding events concerning the sanctuary to the CDF, the Congregation voiced doubts about the apparitions in a manner which differed from the previous positive statements of the local bishop. The local bishop, according to the Church\u2019s own teaching and praxis, has the proper ecclesiastical authority of the first level of discernment regarding apparitions within his diocese. This news report was the first time I was made aware of any possible statement from the <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a0Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith regarding the Itapiranga apparitions.<\/div>\n

Within normal and appropriate Church protocol concerning an apparition which has already received forms of local Church approval, a comprehensive study of the apparitions by the Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith would take place before any thought or action of reversing any existing positive statements by the local bishop. Such a thorough investigation would typically include direct interviews and discussion with the visionary himself; examination of the interviews\/testimonies of the hundreds of pilgrims who have reported profound spiritual fruits and miraculous healings stemming from the apparitions; proper medico-scientific evaluations of the reported ecstasy of the visionary and other concurrent phenomena; as well as extensive theological, medical, psychological evaluations and reports\u2014in short, something similar to the Vatican Commission in regards to the Medjugorje apparitions (commonly referred to as the \u201cRuini Report\u201d), which was a process of investigation which took several years. To date and to my knowledge, no such comprehensive investigation of anything comparable to the Ruini Report had been conducted by the Congregation of the Doctrine of Faith regarding Itapiranga. Moreover, at the time of the November 30 report, the referenced CDF letter was internal in nature and had not been officially nor publicly promulgated by either the Congregation or the present bishop of Itacoatiara. I therefore waited for an official promulgation of this reported letter from either the CDF or the local bishop.<\/span><\/p>\n

On Dec 6, 2017, I was notified that the letter from the Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith which had been sent to the Prelature of Itacoatiara, has now been officially published on the website of the Diocese of Itacoatiara. The letter from the CDF, dated last February 7, 2017, states that, in their opinion, the apparitions and messages reported by Edson are not authentic and, subsequently, that the messages should not be distributed within the Diocese. <\/span>Within the hour, I immediately notified the publisher of <\/span>The Three Hearts<\/span><\/em> book to suspend all distribution of the book until further notice in complete obedience to the now published directives of the Congregation of the Doctrine of Faith regarding the messages of Itapiranga.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I therefore encourage all other followers of the Itapiranga messages to respond in full obedience to the present directives issued by the Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith. While, from a theological and personal perspective, I continue to privately believe in the authenticity, importance, and beauty of the \u201calleged\u201d messages of the Queen of the Rosary and of Peace (a personal belief which the Church herself permits before a final and definitive judgment), nonetheless it is the virtue of obedience to proper Church authority that most pleases Our Lady and which should be the response to this CDF Notification by all true sons and daughters of the Church. Moreover, while I likewise personally hope, as was the case with the temporarily prohibited private revelations and mystical experiences of St. Pio and of St. Faustina\u2019s messages of Divine Mercy, that this present prohibition will eventually be overturned, nevertheless, obedience to proper Church authority must be observed in the process. <\/span><\/p>\n

Devotees of Itapiranga are certainly free within the proper dictates of the Church to respectfully contact the bishop successor of Bishop Gritti in the prelature of Itacoatiara or the Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith directly in order to respectfully request a comprehensive re-examination of the Itapiranga event. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Let us pray for the fulfillment of God\u2019s perfect will concerning the events at Itapiranga, while at the same time remaining in full obedience of mind and heart to the rightful authorities of the Church, which, once again, ultimately brings the most honor and consolation to the Heart of the Immaculate Mother of God and our own Mother.<\/div>\n

The Associacao<\/span> <\/span>Rehina<\/span> do Rosario e da Paz <\/span>Itapiranga (ARRPI Brazil )<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>and [alleged seer] Edson Glauber after having <\/span>had a<\/span> special <\/span>general meeting<\/span> to <\/span>go over<\/span> the letter of the <\/span>C<\/span>ongrega<\/span>t<\/span>ion for the <\/span>Doctrine of the Faith<\/span> and<\/span> after the last visits an<\/span>d<\/span> <\/span>conversation<\/span>s<\/span> <\/span> between Fr. <\/span>Graciomar<\/span> Gama Fernandes<\/span>,<\/span> Diocesan Administrator at<\/span> <\/span>the time, when <\/span>it was<\/span> <\/span>brought up <\/span>at the meeting of November 21, 2016, had noticed and come to the conclusion unanimously that from <\/span>the <\/span>explanation<\/span>s<\/span> <\/span>of Fr. <\/span>Graciomar<\/span>,<\/span> <\/span>his imposi<\/span>tions<\/span> and the information <\/span>given to the C<\/span>ongregation of the Doctrine of the Faith in a hurry, <\/span>that <\/span>there <\/span>was <\/span>no truth, <\/span>but b<\/span>a<\/span>d faith, bad intentions <\/span>to ruin the work of <\/span>our <\/span>Lady <\/span>in <\/span>Itapiranga<\/span>. <\/span><\/p>\n

This is the conclusion <\/span>after <\/span>all <\/span>had <\/span>been examined: <\/span> from the dates indicated on the document, from the document and <\/span>the <\/span>explanation <\/span>of Fr. <\/span>Graciomar<\/span> in <\/span>delivering the l<\/span>etter in the hands of Edson Glauber in <\/span>Itacoatiara<\/span> on <\/span>March 28, 2017, from <\/span>the conversation<\/span> when he <\/span>w<\/span>as present in the <\/span>meeting with<\/span> ARRPI and <\/span>the minutes<\/span> <\/span>signed <\/span>by all <\/span>the <\/span>members <\/span>of November 21, 2016<\/span>;<\/span> <\/span>f<\/span>rom the previous <\/span>conversations <\/span>of Father <\/span>Graciomar<\/span> and Edson Glauber, <\/span>Direc<\/span>tor<\/span> of<\/span> ARRPI Brazil in the curia <\/span>of<\/span> <\/span>Itacoatiara<\/span> on October 22, 2016 and from his contradictions <\/span>in t<\/span>he meeting in the presence of ARRPI<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Since the document has<\/span> placed <\/span> doubts and <\/span>has done <\/span>big damage<\/span> <\/span>to so many souls and <\/span>has <\/span>also ruined the image of the family of Edson <\/span>in front<\/span> of the Church of Manaus<\/span> and<\/span> in other places outside Brazil where the messages have been made known and been spread, <\/span>and since it <\/span>has caused so much <\/span>suffering in<\/span> the <\/span>faithful who were<\/span> <\/span>making <\/span>pilgrimages <\/span>who <\/span>would donate<\/span> their <\/span>small offering<\/span>s<\/span> to help th<\/span>is<\/span> work, this General Assembly asks that all the <\/span>money and <\/span>the pilgrims <\/span>offer<\/span>s <\/span>used by the <\/span>Prelature of <\/span> <\/span>Itacoatiara<\/span> , as well as the prop<\/span>erty<\/span> of Edson\u2019s family which <\/span>h<\/span>as <\/span>been <\/span>donated and bought for the only reason for the work of the Queen of the Rosary and of Peace by the deceased Bishop <\/span>Carillo<\/span> <\/span>Gritti<\/span> for the construction of <\/span>t<\/span>he <\/span>Santuario<\/span>, <\/span>be repaid in <\/span>ful<\/span>l to the family and to ARRPI<\/span> as a right<\/span>, because <\/span>they <\/span>have been bought from the offerings of all the pilgrims who believe in this work and in the apparitions of the Holy Virgin.<\/span><\/p>\n

Since <\/span>the <\/span>Prelature <\/span>of <\/span>Itacoatiara<\/span> <\/span>was not giving an answer and was <\/span>allowing the time to go by without resolving this <\/span>big <\/span>problem in front of the Holy See<\/span>,<\/span> <\/span>t<\/span>his General Assembly asks <\/span>now <\/span>that all be resolved <\/span>the sooner <\/span>and this decre<\/span>e<\/span> be <\/span>cancelled<\/span> because the facts have not been analyzed <\/span>welI<\/span>,<\/span> because the <\/span>Prelature<\/span> of <\/span>Itacoatiara<\/span> ha<\/span>s<\/span> <\/span>done a big defamation against<\/span> the person of<\/span> <\/span>Edson, his family, ARRPI <\/span>and the<\/span> <\/span>Santuario<\/span> of <\/span>Itapiranga<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Assembly concludes by saying<\/span>: T<\/span>he apparitions are <\/span>not <\/span>considered <\/span>authen<\/span>t<\/span>ic, <\/span>not considered to <\/span>be <\/span> true<\/span>, but the <\/span>Prelature <\/span>can use the money of the pilgrims who believe in the presence of <\/span>our Lady <\/span>in <\/span>Itapiranga<\/span> the way they have done in the last months? The confidants <\/span>have to<\/span> keep <\/span>quiet<\/span> and<\/span> to<\/span> be silent<\/span> because <\/span>nothing <\/span>is true, but the Church can take the <\/span>property<\/span> of a family for other <\/span>purposes<\/span> <\/span>that <\/span>are not the work of The Virgin Qu<\/span>e<\/span>en of the Rosary and of Peace? Here there is a great mistake and the Assembly has decided that after all <\/span>these events <\/span>and f<\/span>a<\/span>cts the confidants of the Virgin Mary cannot accept <\/span>an imposition of obedience<\/span> <\/span>that has come<\/span> from the Congregation, because the facts <\/span>were not right<\/span>,<\/span> the way they should <\/span>have <\/span>been<\/span>,<\/span> because <\/span>who has failed are<\/span> the Priests of the <\/span>P<\/span>relature of <\/span>Itacoatiara<\/span> <\/span>for giving untrue <\/span>inform<\/span>a<\/span>tion and if the Church does not correct this , <\/span>the cause will <\/span>be <\/span>brought before the <\/span> <\/span>C<\/span>ourt <\/span>and <\/span>Judges of <\/span>the Amazon<\/span>, using legal and criminal means<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Not to give an answer to the <\/span>P<\/span>r<\/span>elature of <\/span>Itacoat<\/span>i<\/span>ara<\/span> and to the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith after more than eight mo<\/span>n<\/span>ths <\/span>is <\/span>as to <\/span>accept everything they have said to be true.<\/span> <\/span> But <\/span>the <\/span>truth <\/span>is another<\/span> <\/span>and<\/span> <\/span>now I <\/span>have to<\/span> show<\/span> the truth <\/span>so that all ca<\/span>n<\/span> make their just discernment of the facts.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is the decision of all the members of <\/span>t<\/span>he General Assembly of ARRPI Brazil <\/span>to defend <\/span>and honor <\/span>the Queen of the Rosary and of Peace <\/span>who has been appearing<\/span> in the Amazon during all these years from 1994 <\/span>to these days.<\/span><\/p>\n
