Did you ever contemplate what might be called the “Boomerang Effect”?<\/span><\/p>\n

It reduces to this: <\/span><\/p>\n

Ask and you will receive, yes — but also: give and you will get what you give, in one way or another (for good or naught).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What we send out, in short, has a “return address” on it.\u00a0“Curses, like chickens” goes the saying, “come home to roost.”<\/span><\/p>\n

And a curse isn’t just using a formal curse; you need not hire a witch; it can be little things, like petty gossip, little accusations. In general, negativity.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you want bad luck, be jealous, be negative, wish bad luck on someone else.<\/span><\/p>\n

Let’s recall the Golden Rule<\/span> of Christ: do unto others as you would have them do unto you — because in essence, that’s what occurs: it comes winging back.\u00a0<\/span>Bless your enemy,<\/em> goes another saying, and you rob your opponent of ammunition; in this way you transmute arrows into blessings.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“Bless those who curse you,”<\/em> said the Lord (Matthew<\/em> 5:44).<\/span><\/p>\n

It can even happen with entire nations.<\/span><\/p>\n

And what it further reduces to<\/span> is that every adverse situation, every insult, every miff, every social-media tantrum, even viciousness, can be turned around by being undisturbed by it, when it’s directed your way, thereby allowing it to collapse of its own weight.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What you refuse to allow to penetrate, in other words,\u00a0does not penetrate.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Fear, on the other hand, tears a portal of entry.<\/span><\/p>\n

When there’s no emotional knee-jerk response<\/em> to a situation that is inharmonious — that’s irritating, that’s unfair — the situation dissolves like fog as the sun rises in full stead.\u00a0<\/span>A heartsome disposition attracts joy… while a dour personality is a magnet for all the clouds in the area.<\/span><\/p>\n

When we give,<\/span> it is actually an investment; for this too<\/em> returns. “There is that scattereth and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdest more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty,” one author quotes Scripture (Proverbs<\/em> 11:24) as relating to precisely this.<\/span><\/p>\n

God replenishes<\/em> those who give what they have received.\u00a0The more we give, the more “living water” — rejuvenation — flows through us.\u00a0When we withhold, we’re like a dam.\u00a0When we are selfish, when we hoard, we watch our resources dwindle or build inside us to the point of bursting. D<\/span>isease and unhappiness often come from the violation of the law of love. Said a writer, “<\/span>Man’s boomerangs of hate, resentment, and criticism, come back laden with sickness and sorrow. Love seems almost a lost art, but the man with the knowledge of spiritual law knows it must be regained, for without it, he has become ‘as sounding brass and tinkling cymbals.'”<\/span><\/p>\n

Be cold and receive frigidity.<\/span> Be aloof, and meet those who prefer a distance. What a man condemns in others, he attracts as a temptation unto himself. In this way does life often surprise us (sometimes pleasantly, sometimes unpleasantly).<\/span><\/p>\n

Only by Mercy can you receive what you have never given.<\/span><\/p>\n

Send forth love and receive Grace.\u00a0Give perfect unselfish love, and you will gain compassion; do not criticize or condemn, lest you be criticized; yet, demand nothing in return. Make others happy and you will receive: happiness. Life can always be — joyous. Every difficulty is: an exciting opportunity in this light.<\/span><\/p>\n

It’s God Who is keeping score — Who is watching your “account” — and He is unfailing in rewarding those Who, like a fount, dispense His favor.<\/span><\/p>\n
