\"MedjugorjeWho was Mat\u00e8 Sego?<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

A very humble man who had prophesied about the apparitions that would take place in Medjugorje.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Mat\u00e8 Sego was a peasant, born in 1901, in the village of Bijakovici, in Bosnia-Herzegovina, near Medjugorje.\u00a0He had never had the opportunity to go to school and lived by cultivating his land.\u00a0He did not own a house with water and electricity;\u00a0he slept in the street, near his camp.\u00a0The life of this gentle and respected man, known by everyone in the village, is, today, forever linked to the apparitions of the Madonna, in that place.\u00a0Long before the visionaries began to talk\u00a0to the Queen of Peace, Mat\u00e8 Sego had in fact begun to describe unexpected events, unthinkable for the inhabitants of those villages.\u00a0He, who lived just where, now, the Marian apparitions take place, said, in fact:\u00a0“One day, there will be a large staircase behind my house, with as many steps as there are days of the year.\u00a0Medjugorje will be very important, people will come\u00a0here from all corners of the world.”<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

[So it is, that millions each year visit this once-remote village — and climb on steps leading behind his home to paths for Mount Krizevac or Apparition Hill. The Vatican recently okayed official parish pilgrimages here.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

As Sister Emmanuel, a religious at Medjugorje, quoted\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>Mat\u00e8 as saying (in The Hidden Child of Medjugorje<\/em><\/a><\/span>)<\/span><\/strong>: “There will be many roads, many buildings, much bigger than our little houses we have now.<\/span>\u00a0Some buildings will be immense.”<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

At that point in the story Mat\u00e8 Sego was saddened and said \u201cOur people will sell their land to foreigners who will build on it.<\/span>\u00a0On my mountain there will be so many people that you will not be able to sleep at night [see the Mystic Post<\/em>].”<\/span><\/span><\/strong>+<\/span><\/h4>\n

At that point, the friends of Mat\u00e8 laughed and asked if he had drunk too much grappa.<\/em><\/span><\/strong>+<\/span><\/h4>\n

But Mat\u00e8 continued: \u201cDo not lose your traditions pray to God for all and for yourselves.<\/span>\u00a0There will be a spring here, a spring that will give a lot of water, so much water that there will be a lake here and ours will have boats and will moor them to a large rock.” A mysterious prophecy — this one yet unfulfilled — indeed!]<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n
