{"id":3445,"date":"2016-10-16T21:31:32","date_gmt":"2016-10-16T21:31:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spiritdaily.org\/blog\/?p=3445"},"modified":"2016-10-18T22:51:10","modified_gmt":"2016-10-18T22:51:10","slug":"bad-moon-over-atlantic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spiritdaily.org\/blog\/bad-moon-over-atlantic\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Bad Moon&#8217; Over the Atlantic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3127\" src=\"https:\/\/spiritdaily.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/logoinside.gif\" alt=\"logoinside\" width=\"350\" height=\"45\" \/><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3524\" src=\"https:\/\/spiritdaily.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/moonsuper.jpg\" alt=\"moonsuper\" width=\"480\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"https:\/\/spiritdaily.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/moonsuper.jpg 480w, https:\/\/spiritdaily.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/moonsuper-255x340.jpg 255w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Call this <em>&#8220;Bad Moon Rising,&#8221;<\/em> as in the music of Credence Clearwater Revival.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">That song from the Sixties (see lyrics at the end of this article) was playing on the intercom of a cafe in a motel Saturday night just as we passed by on our way to see damage to\u00a0a coast road called A1A in Flagler Beach, Florida.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><em><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, Palatino;\">(&#8220;I see the bad moon arising,\u00a0<\/span>I see trouble on the way,<\/em><em><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, Palatino;\">\u00a0I see earthquakes and lightnin&#8217;,\u00a0<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, Palatino;\">I see those bad times today&#8230;<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, Palatino;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, Palatino;\">I hear hurricanes a blowing,\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, Palatino;\">I fear rivers over flowing,\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, Palatino;\">I hear the voice of rage and ruin&#8230;)<\/span>\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Or call this &#8220;the gospel according to <em>Matthew<\/em>.&#8221; (<em>&#8220;You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times&#8221;<\/em> (16:3-4)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-3453\" src=\"https:\/\/spiritdaily.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/A1Adamage-1.jpg\" alt=\"a1adamage\" width=\"240\" height=\"320\" \/><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">The hurricane by that very name<\/span> bequeathed a strong sense &#8212; scanning road asphalt that had collapsed into roiling ocean waters, and or seeing the signs blown down (speaking of &#8220;sign of the times,&#8221; as a local newspaper labeled an article about damaged signs) &#8212; of both the storminess that the Atlantic can conjure as well as the storminess in our lives, in our culture, in our horrible political situation, in our times.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Buckle up.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Emergency officials had expected<\/span> &#8220;catastrophic damage&#8221; from a direct hit by a category-three storm along this part of the coast. One official, Jim Judge, told the Daytona <em>News-Journal<\/em>\u00a0 that they had expected homes to be blown away or flooded to their roofs.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>In the end &#8212; surely, due in part to prayer &#8212; the area dodged the proverbial bullet (really, better described as a cannonball).<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">As a headline Sunday said, &#8220;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" title=\"Deconstructing Matthew: How 30-mile 'wobble' spared area\" href=\"http:\/\/www.news-journalonline.com\/news\/20161015\/deconstructing-matthew-how-30-mile-wobble-spared-area\" target=\"_blank\" data-gh-local-storage-key=\"localStorageFeedURL\" data-gh-local-storage-value=\"http:\/\/www.news-journalonline.com\/section?Category=&amp;profile=12690&amp;template=JSON&amp;mime=json&amp;c=4&amp;start=1\">30-mile &#8216;wobble&#8217; spared area<\/a><\/span>.&#8221;<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3496 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/spiritdaily.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/IMG_3064.jpg\" alt=\"img_3064\" width=\"480\" height=\"640\" \/>\u201cNothing was going to withstand<\/span> those winds,&#8221; the official said. &#8220;You are looking at a large tornado coming over the community.&#8221;\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Adding to the destruction would have been an even higher wall of water surging from both the Atlantic Ocean and intra-coastal &#8212; from Cape Canaveral to Jacksonville &#8212; leaving barrier islands and even cities such as Edgewater underwater. (\u201cYou would have been able to go fishing from the Interstate-95 overpass,\u201d Judge commented.)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>The overpass is a couple miles from the water.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Instead, in His Mercy,<\/span>\u00a0&#8220;Matthew&#8221; offered just a glancing blow, with sustained winds that never made it to hurricane force.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">But there was the road damage and sections of the area where trees were toppled.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Most distressing to the communities &#8212; and showing our fantastic dependence on electricity &#8212; were outages that lasted up to several days.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Tens of hundreds of thousands were without it &#8212; granting us just a taste of what could happen in a much larger and perhaps national event.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">No bottled water in the stores.<\/span> Food totally out within three weeks. No gasoline, no banks, no ATMs, no regular radio, no internet, no TV, no air conditioning, no electric ovens and worst of all, of course, no lights.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3454 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/spiritdaily.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/MOON.jpg\" alt=\"moon\" width=\"480\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"https:\/\/spiritdaily.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/MOON.jpg 480w, https:\/\/spiritdaily.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/MOON-255x340.jpg 255w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/>There was this sense: We&#8217;re only being warned. We are being prepared. As Mary said at Medjugorje, <em>&#8220;The world has been drawn into a great whirlwind. It does not know what it is doing. It does not realize in what sin it is sinking. It needs your prayers so that I can pull it out of this danger.&#8221;<\/em>)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Just last week, President Obama signed an executive order for the nation to prepare for a\u00a0<em>national<\/em> power outage, which could come through terrorism or a solar storm. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Can you imagine being without electricity for weeks to even months?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><em><strong>&#8220;As individuals, my children, you cannot stop the evil that wants to begin to rule in this world and to destroy it,&#8221; <\/strong><\/em><strong>Mary also said.<\/strong><em><strong> &#8220;But, according to God&#8217;s Will, all together, with my Son, you can change everything and heal the world.&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">For now, <em>still<\/em> God&#8217;s Mercy.<\/span> In Flagler, most neighborhoods looked like they had not been hit by anything but a very strong thunderstorm.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">The wind blows where it will.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Are not hurricane &#8220;winds&#8221; also blowing in our society? Do they not blow through the political arena? Will we continue to have wanton abortion? Will it become even more welcoming to homosexuality? Will we continue our unfettered materialism?
