Amen.<\/p>\n<p>INTRODUCTION<br \/>\nWhen our Risen Lord appeared to his disciples on Easter Sunday he said: \u201cPeace\u00a0be with you.\u201d We can be confident that he desires this same peace for all the\u00a0members of his body, the Church, and for the people of the entire world.\u00a0 In this difficult time we turn to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church and Queen of Peace, to ask that she intercede with her Son for all those who\u00a0are affected in any way by this pandemic. As we renew the consecration of our\u00a0country and of ourselves to the Mother of the God, we implore her maternal care\u00a0for her children.<\/p>\n<p>Renewal of the<br \/>\nConsecration of the<br \/>\nUnited States of<br \/>\nAmerica to the<br \/>\nBlessed Virgin Mary<br \/>\nMay 1, 2020<br \/>\nThis prayer of consecration will be offered on behalf of the entire country<br \/>\nby the Most Reverend Jos\u00e9 H. Gomez, Archbishop of Los Angeles<br \/>\nand President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.<br \/>\nThe prayer of consecration incorporates language used in consecrations<br \/>\nof Popes Pius XII, John Paul II, and Francis,<br \/>\nand also from prayers from Masses of the Blessed Virgin Mary.<br \/>\nUse this text to pray along with Archbishop Gomez.<br \/>\nMaking the appropriate adaptations, other bishops can use it to renew the<br \/>\nconsecration of their dioceses,<br \/>\npastors their parishes, and families or individuals their own households.<br \/>\nWhen prayed in common, a leader might say the parts in bold,<br \/>\nand others might read the Scripture passage and lead the decade of the Rosary.<br \/>\nThe prayer of consecration could be proclaimed by the leader alone or prayed together.<\/p>\n<p>\u20142\u2014<\/p>\n<p>OPENING PRAYER<br \/>\nLet us pray.<br \/>\nO God, Father of mercies,<br \/>\nwhose Only Begotten Son, as he hung upon the Cross,<br \/>\nchose the Blessed Virgin Mary, his Mother,<br \/>\nto be our Mother also,<br \/>\ngrant, we pray, that with her loving help<br \/>\nyour Church may be more fruitful day by day<br \/>\nand, exulting in the holiness of her children,<br \/>\nmay draw to her embrace all the families of the peoples.<br \/>\nThrough our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,<br \/>\nwho lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,<br \/>\none God, for ever and ever.<br \/>\nR.
