{"id":3731,"date":"2016-11-01T21:16:05","date_gmt":"2016-11-01T21:16:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spiritdaily.org\/blog\/?p=3731"},"modified":"2016-11-03T16:19:59","modified_gmt":"2016-11-03T16:19:59","slug":"this-present-moment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spiritdaily.org\/blog\/this-present-moment\/","title":{"rendered":"San Francisco: The Present Darkness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3127\" src=\"https:\/\/spiritdaily.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/logoinside.gif\" alt=\"logoinside\" width=\"350\" height=\"45\" \/><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-z3HK0OMx5Ew\/T8u05O7vwwI\/AAAAAAAAAes\/22n-F-PGDwg\/s1600\/IMG_3030.JPG\" alt=\"Image result for saint francis park san francisco\" \/>While, when thinking of spiritual issues in San Francisco, most focus on how it was the wellspring for Sixties revolution (Haight-Asbury), as well as drugs (in the old days, opium dens; later &#8220;acid&#8221;), and long has been famous for its libertine sex (back then, brothels; now homosexuality) &#8212; and while all these were cited by certain residents even back a hundred years ago as warranting the Justice of God (this said before the 1906 earthquake, as related to us by the grandchild of one survivor at our recent retreat there) &#8212; hardly mentioned is what might be called the occult undercurrent.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>San Francisco is second to none in prayer-warriors but also second to none when it comes to psychics, the New Age, and witchcraft.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>There is an undercurrent of the occult that&#8217;s as strong as the pull of the bay near Alcatraz, and the view from here is that it may be a root for many of the other counter-cultural (and immoral) manifestations.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Behind much of the spiritual combat,<\/span> in short, can be an\u00a0<em>occult<\/em> spirit.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>It is often the case that palm readers share the same side of town as tattoo parlors and strip clubs.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"> Oh, this city named for Francis of Assisi! His statue even stands in a public park (albeit as modern art). Yet: this city where, in 1966, was born the Church of Satan.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>In fact, palm readers and psychics and New Age storefronts are highly prevalent in many neighborhoods.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>There&#8217;s even a psychic &#8220;superstore.&#8221;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>There are so many witchcraft shops that Yelp has a &#8220;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yelp.com\/search?find_desc=wicca+stores&amp;find_loc=San+Francisco%2C+CA\">top ten best<\/a><\/span>&#8221; for the city.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/irs2.4sqi.net\/img\/general\/200x200\/e3W_91t_zoUTqmSgG1xSIWoDKLjvK_-HTIE-ZPH3fh8.jpg\" alt=\"Photo taken at Black Magic Voodoo Lounge by Chelsea C. on 4\/7\/2012\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" \/>It&#8217;s okay to be a witch here (and not just on Halloween).<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>There&#8217;s\u00a0The Love of Ganesha, or\u00a0The Scarlet Sage Herb Co., or\u00a0 Crystal Way. Among many!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Such stuff has repercussions.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Want a drink?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>There&#8217;s the Black Magic Voodoo Lounge.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>(Bottoms up!)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>And it&#8217;s not only blatant witchery.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Riding through town, one sees signs that have to do with Freemasonry at various junctures &#8212; including a street that&#8217;s <em>called<\/em> &#8220;Mason Street&#8221; (as shown <em>below<\/em>\u00a0in Getty Images).<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/media.gettyimages.com\/videos\/following-cable-car-turning-at-corner-at-mason-street-san-francisco-video-id90080445?s=640x640\" alt=\"Image result for mason street san francisco\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Masons have a huge memorial building in the downtown area, with vans proudly declaring the facility, which no doubt, like those of Shriners, does much good, but has that obvious undertow and contamination (we&#8217;re all confused, on this earth, without Christ; <em>photo\u00a0By <span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #000000;\"><a style=\"color: #000000; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/commons.wikimedia.org\/w\/index.php?curid=19990064\">Yair Haklai<\/a><\/span><\/em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #000000;\">)<\/span><\/span><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/commons\/thumb\/0\/0a\/Nob_Hill_Masonic_Center-San_Francisco.jpg\/1280px-Nob_Hill_Masonic_Center-San_Francisco.jpg\" alt=\"Nob Hill Masonic Center-San Francisco.jpg\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Coincidence abounds:\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Near Mason Street is 666 Post Street (an apartment complex: one bedroom, $513,000) and two doors from there is a storefront for a psychic reader. San Francisco is where the secretive Bohemian Grove was first located.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Never mind the pornography shops, strip clubs, and &#8220;drag&#8221; shows. Is it not curious how often they congregate &#8212; as if magnets for each other?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>And parades (they love to mock priests and nuns here, the gays do). All in good fun, no doubt.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Our apologies, for these photos and comments. We dare not show the ones that most clearly demonstrate evil.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"irc_mi iZGVU7QUiTG0-pQOPx8XEepE alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/s3-media3.fl.yelpcdn.com\/bphoto\/_ln5ayZw-oHlsHAvt4YrZw\/ls.jpg\" alt=\"Image result for occult shop san francisco\" width=\"250\" height=\"250\" \/>But let the truth come out of the closet, also. <\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Why your obsession with attacking Catholicism, gay friends?\u00a0Why the devil, so often, in your parades, gay friends; gay brothers?\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>We love you but not your sin; not debauchery.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Curious it is that Native Americans in this region were known, as elsewhere, for their\u00a0<em>berdache<\/em>: Indians who were of two genders. (Does the past ensorcell\u00a0the earth &#8212; send forth a spiritual hold?)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">San Francisco is a bellwether, <span style=\"color: #000000;\">or call it simply a forerunner, or an incubator<\/span><\/span> &#8212; witness how the hippie movement originated in large part there (Haight-Asbury, where it&#8217;s easy these days to find a Tarot reader) &#8212; and what one senses there these days is a new coldness &#8212; an aloof materialism as dangerous as the occult (for it is another form of paganism) that was not nearly as prevalent in more than a dozen previous trips through the years, starting in the 1960s, there.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Such is America, at the moment.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Corruption.
