However, Mackie&#8217;s photograph came out unlike any other northern lights photo you will ever see.\u00a0The photograph appears to show a frightening face in the middle of the aurora borealis. &#8216;This was the first time I&#8217;d ever seen something like this,&#8217; said Mackie. &#8216;When you have a high solar activity like we did when we took this shot, you do get the reds which you can also see in this shot.'&#8221;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Yes you can. And considering that an aurora was the &#8220;great sign&#8221; of Fatima, one can be excused for surveying potential mystical implications &#8212; or at least marveling at a curiosity.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>In the news too: tabloids in England a bit aflame with UFO reports (as found in recently released government files).<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Reports Fox News:<\/span> &#8220;A new witness has broken his 36 -year silence to speak out about Britain\u2019s most famous UFO incident.\u00a0Steve Longero was told to keep quiet by his superiors following the infamous <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/news\/1711518\/retired-cop-calls-on-government-to-reveal-truth-on-infamous-rendlesham-forest-ufo-incident\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Rendlesham Forest incident in Suffolk<\/span>.<\/a>\u00a0But now the retired U.S. Air Force police officer has gone on the record for the first time and said: &#8216;I think it was something not from this world.&#8217;\u00a0The incident \u2013 dubbed the British Roswell \u2013 took place over three nights between 26 and 28 December, in 1980.&#8221;<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">It seems military personnel from the nearby Bentwaters Royal Air Force Base and Woodbridge RAF, among them a deputy base commander, reported strange lights in the forest hovering above these two NATO airbases.\u00a0A sophisticated alarm system went off, and lights were witnessed over the treetops, similar to fluorescent ones, though with an otherworldly red glow. They\u00a0report. You debate.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Actually, it was nothing quite so dramatic as the claim, at Roswell, in New Mexico, that a &#8220;UFO&#8221; with aliens aboard had crashed (the entities spirited off, or so it was claimed, to a clandestine Air Force facility &#8212; one at such a level of secrecy as to not be accessible even to a president).<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong> What to make of these?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>No clue. To scientists, infra dig stuff.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Mysteries.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Another: the mammalian creatures witnesses say occasionally wash up from Plum Island off eastern Connecticut &#8212; an island the military has used as a secret research facility, possibly for genetic experiments. Many believe this facility, rumored to have been used for bio-warfare research, is the source for the outbreak just across the sound, at Lyme, Connecticut, of what has now spread around the nation as Lyme Disease.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>We&#8217;ll have another special report on this in the future: Does our military experiment with bio-warfare agents that occasionally escape and affect Americans?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>(Our guess is yes.)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>In West Virginia, stranger still and perhaps into the realm of rural mythology (or demonology; or hoax): &#8220;mothman&#8221; was recently said to have returned.\u00a0Here from\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.snopes.com\/mothman-returns-to-point-pleasant-west-virginia\/\">Snopes<\/a> (the website that seeks to debunk fake news):<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.snopes.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/a28.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>&#8220;On 20 November 2016, an unidentified man allegedly captured images of what he believed to be the<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> <a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"http:\/\/urbanlegendsonline.com\/mothman\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mothman<\/a>,<\/span> a flying humanoid monster that gained fame for terrorizing the West Virginia town of Point Pleasant in the mid-1960s.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">&#8220;The photographer gave the pictures to local news station <span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"http:\/\/wchstv.com\/news\/local\/man-photographs-creature-that-resembles-legendary-mothman-of-point-pleasant\" target=\"_blank\">WCHS<\/a>,<\/span> claiming he took them while driving on State Route 2; the station aired the pictures in a 21 November 2016 report. The images are grainy and show the silhouette of a two-legged, winged creature flying around tree tops.&#8221;<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Snopes &#8212; which has designations such as &#8220;true&#8221; or &#8220;false&#8221; above such entries &#8212; labels this as &#8220;unproven&#8221; (we expected them to say &#8220;false&#8221;).<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">As Snopes explains, &#8220;The Mothman has been a part of\u00a0the local folklore of Point Pleasant (a small city on the western border of West Virginia) since it was first sighted in 1966. Sightings of the creature were <span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/exemplore.com\/paranormal\/Mothman-Sightings-and-the-Silver-Bridge-Collapse\" target=\"_blank\">associated<\/a> <\/span>with the collapse of the Silver Bridge over the Ohio River in 1967, which killed dozens of people, leaving some residents to consider Mothman sightings to be bad omens (although the bridge collapse occurred more than a<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> <a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ign.com\/articles\/2001\/12\/06\/the-real-story-of-the-mothman-prophecies\" target=\"_blank\">year<\/a><\/span> after the first sightings were reported, making the connection tenuous at best).&#8221; This too may be part of an upcoming special report. (Stay tuned.)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #ff0000;\"><strong>UFOs. Mothmen. Myths? Mysteries? Demons?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Or &#8220;fake photographs&#8221; (embedded in &#8220;fake news&#8221;)?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>There is certainly enough of that.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Not a sliver of proof. Still, fascinating: as a writer named Frank Edwards once put it: stranger than science.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>And then there is real news, and it too can harbor mysteries.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>In Ontario, Canada, across from Detroit, the <a href=\"http:\/\/news.nationalpost.com\/news\/canada\/it-rattles-the-pictures-on-my-wall-mysterious-windsor-hum-is-getting-louder-and-more-frequent\">&#8220;Windsor Hum<\/a>.&#8221;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Reported the Canadian\u00a0<em>National Post<\/em> last week:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">&#8220;The globally recognized Windsor Hum has seemingly ramped up again in noise and frequency, driving residents on the city\u2019s west end and LaSalle crazy at all hours of the day or night. &#8216;Last night was a really good rattle,&#8217; said Gary Grosse, who helps oversee the Windsor-Essex County Hum Facebook group. &#8216;It almost sounds like a hammering.
