The miseries of this present life are the test to which God puts His soldiers; He passes judgment upon them, and classifies them, according to the degree of courage they have shown. Therefore is it, that we all have our share of suffering. The combat has commenced. God is looking on, watching how each of us conducts himself.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The day is not far off, when the Judge will pass sentence on the\u00a0merits of each combatant, and award to each one the recompense he has\u00a0won. Combat now; peace and rest and a crown, then. Happy they who,\u00a0during these days of probation, have recognized the mighty hand of God\u00a0in all the trials they have had, and have humbled themselves under its\u00a0pressure, lovingly and confidingly! Against such Christians, who have\u00a0been strong in faith, the roaring lion has not been able to prevail.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

They were sober, they were watchful, during this their pilgrimage.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

They were fully convinced of this, that everyone has to suffer in the\u00a0present life; they therefore never sighed and moaned, as though they\u00a0were the only sufferers; they did not assume the attitude of victims,\u00a0and call it resignation; but they took each trial as it came, and,\u00a0without talking to everyone about it, they quietly and joyously\u00a0united it with the sufferings of Christ. O true Christians! you will\u00a0be joyous for all eternity, when there will be made the manifestation\u00a0of that eternal glory in Christ Jesus, which He will pass on to you,\u00a0that you may share it with Him forever!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Discerning a person (2 Timothy<\/em>):<\/p>\n

“But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, slanderers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited,\u00a0 lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness although they have denied its power; avoid\u00a0such people as<\/i>\u00a0these.\u00a0For among\u00a0them are those\u00a0who\u00a0slip into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses, \u00a0always\u00a0learning\u00a0and never\u00a0able\u00a0to come\u00a0to the\u00a0knowledge\u00a0of the truth.<\/p>\n

“Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses,\u00a0 so these men also oppose the truth, men of depraved mind, worthless in regard to the faith. But they will not make further progress; for their foolishness will be obvious to all.”<\/p>\n
