{"id":6870,"date":"2017-04-08T21:38:17","date_gmt":"2017-04-08T21:38:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spiritdaily.org\/blog\/?p=6870"},"modified":"2017-04-10T12:44:59","modified_gmt":"2017-04-10T12:44:59","slug":"6870","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spiritdaily.org\/blog\/6870\/","title":{"rendered":"As Holy Week Begins, Strange Things"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3127\" src=\"https:\/\/spiritdaily.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/logoinside.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"45\" \/><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/en.protothema.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/cru1-870x418.jpg\" alt=\"cru1\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><strong>An interesting start to Holy Week, as we hear various unusual reports.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/en.protothema.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/cru8-300x202.jpg\" alt=\"cru8\" \/>At the Church of the Holy Sepulcher &#8212;\u00a0<em>the<\/em> holiest spot this time of year, and for that matter any time &#8212; Orthodox priests reportedly saw rays shining from the Holy Icon of Christ the Crucifix. \u00a0&#8220;When they went to examine the strange light they discovered the icon had its eyes open,&#8221; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a style=\"color: #000000; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"http:\/\/en.protothema.gr\/crucifix-icon-in-jerusalem-opens-eyes-photos-video\/\">says a report<\/a><\/span>. &#8220;Some of the priests posted the images on social media. Could this be a sign of the times or a miracle?&#8221;\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><strong>A priest there tells us it was for just a few hours on one particular day, but apparently it occurred as recently as March 29 and by one report also in February. Are\u00a0<em>both\u00a0<\/em>eyes opened in the shot above? (Naturally, there is controversy over one priest there.) A U.S. pilgrim leader also reports that he saw it.<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/en.protothema.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/cru7-300x119.jpg\" alt=\"cru7\" \/><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><strong>Meanwhile, elsewhere in the region &#8212; in Syria &#8212; we learn of a sacred community where legend has it the Virgin Mary stayed.<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><strong>This is in the besieged province of Hama at a town called Mhardeh, according to Sp<em>utnik<\/em> News, which was reporting on a number of Russian militia and their families there.\u00a0The population, it seems, almost exclusively consists of Orthodox Christians, about 20,000 in all, though many fled with\u00a0families during recent violence. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mysticpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/eyeclosed.jpg\" alt=\" \" \/>Will terrorists &#8212; who have their eyes on it &#8212; destroy this place?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><strong>Says <em>Sputnik<\/em>: &#8220;[A]\u00a0small church is located near\u00a0the city center. Its doors are hanging quite low on\u00a0purpose so that everyone who wants to\u00a0enter it has to\u00a0bow in\u00a0respect.\u00a0Everything inside\u00a0looks modest and there is almost no light, only burning candles under\u00a0the images of\u00a0the holy saints and in\u00a0front of\u00a0the altar. &#8216;Mhardeh is an extremely important city for\u00a0Christians. In the church of\u00a0the Blessed Virgin Mary, it is believed that Virgin Mary was here for\u00a0some time in\u00a0this room to\u00a0the right of\u00a0the altar,&#8217; the guardian of\u00a0the church told [our correspondent].&#8221;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">According to\u00a0the correspondent,<\/span> inside a room at\u00a0the altar where the Virgin Mary spent several days of\u00a0her life, &#8220;one can feel shivers running down\u00a0their spine.&#8221; As the newspaper adds: &#8220;Just about\u00a0four kilometers from\u00a0this historically sacred place there are terrorists who are ready to\u00a0turn this place into\u00a0a heap of\u00a0stones as\u00a0soon as\u00a0they get a chance.\u00a0But the residents of\u00a0Mhardeh believe that the government forces will liberate the neighboring Halfaya and in\u00a0the near\u00a0future they will defeat terrorists in\u00a0Idlib.\u00a0However, to\u00a0date, no one is in\u00a0a hurry to\u00a0bring their families back and everyone keeps their weapons close by.&#8221; Prayer urgency&#8230;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><strong>Isn&#8217;t it interesting that all this comes out as Holy Week is here and all eyes internationally are on Syria &#8212; and the U.S. strike after a horrendous government gas attack? (We say alleged, because, stranger yet, Catholic bishops in Syria believe an investigation should have been conducted before declaring it such and taking action).<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><strong>Upheaval; watch!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Our strange time.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><strong>But, then, times have always been strange.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><strong>Looking back at things related to the Crucifixion, we note a long-ago report in\u00a0<em>Harper&#8217;s Weekly<\/em> (50-715) to the effect that in Patrick County, Virginia (where the Blue Ridge and Allegheny mountains conjoin), numerous tiny stone crosses were once found &#8212; as if from nowhere. From what I can determine, this was in the 1860s (again, conflict: Civil War-time).<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><strong>They ranged in weight from a quarter of an ounce to a full ounce. It also made\u00a0<em>Scientific America<\/em> (79-395), that some of them were no bigger than a pin.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><strong>Most were on Bull Mountain. Some were also found in two other states.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><strong>Some were Roman Crosses. The St. Andrew Cross. Some Maltese.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><strong>They were called &#8220;fairy crosses&#8221; by one cynical scribe of the arcane. We declare nescience.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><strong>Geologists said they were simply crystals.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><strong>Others decided that science might not be able to quite explain (let&#8217;s go back to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher) quite everything&#8230;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8212; Michael H.
