On business signs. Roadside. At the airport [<em>above].<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Pura Vida<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">It means &#8220;Pure Life,&#8221;<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> life for the sake of life\u2014for the joy\u2014and<\/span><\/span> some even connect it with a miracle that occurred on August 2, 1635, when a Tico girl of mixed descent found a three-inch volcanic rock statue of Mary holding the Child (&#8220;<em>La Negrita<\/em>&#8220;; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #000000;\"><a style=\"color: #000000; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/spiritdailyblog.com\/miracles\/the-little-big-virgin\">see story last week<\/a><\/span>).<\/p>\n<p>The secular take is that <em>&#8220;pura vida&#8221;<\/em> originated in Mexico and worked its way south as a slogan for right living.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Costa Rica&#8217;s national saying<em> &#8216;pura vida,&#8217;<\/em> which is associated with a sense of well-being, positivity, and gratitude, is far more than just a simple catchphrase,&#8221; writes a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #000000;\"><a style=\"color: #000000; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/travel\/article\/20240227-pura-vida-costa-ricas-uniquely-positive-outlook-on-life\">woman who was born there,<\/a><\/span> explaining that the Mexican origin may have been a movie in which a man repeatedly uses the phrase to describe people and things. (<strong>&#8220;In the film, the phrase conveys a sense of gratitude, that even if you are facing difficulties, you are still alive and can look on the bright side of things,&#8221; <\/strong>she notes.)<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8220;In Costa Rica I felt like a different person,&#8221;<\/span> explains one woman. &#8220;Everything there seems simpler, and it changed my mindset.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>One day at a time. One step at a time.<\/p>\n<p>Simplicity. Closeness to nature. Optimism even when faced with obstacles: even being grateful for them; the ability to &#8220;step back&#8221; from what may otherwise upset you and then express gratitude with every step afterward.<\/p>\n<p>It is a country, Costa Rica, that&#8217;s eighty percent Catholic, and that doesn&#8217;t hurt the feeling of tranquility (despite rising crime and secularism).<\/p>\n<p>The natural beauty is breathtaking, and the denizens are intent on preserving it. &#8220;Costa Ricans have a strong attachment to nature and spending time outdoors is an important part of life,&#8221; says the story accurately.<\/p>\n<p>Nature. The first &#8220;temple.&#8221; God&#8217;s constantly wondrous Creation.<\/p>\n<p>Important to\u00a0<em>pura vida<\/em>: how we treat every single person every moment of every day.<\/p>\n<p>What we seek: the Love and purity, the simplicity, of Jesus.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-52080 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/spiritdailyblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/costabeauty.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"635\" height=\"847\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Famously, an area on the Pacific side of the nation, called Nicoya, is considered one of five global &#8220;blue zones,&#8221; where people live significantly longer than the global average, often surpassing 100 years.<\/p>\n<p>And at the San Jose airport, the way of life\u2014the Nicoya philosophy\u2014is explained on a large pillar.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-52081 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/spiritdailyblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/0.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"417\" height=\"556\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Can you imagine: promoting prayer in the largest airport!<\/p>\n<p><em>Pura vida.<\/em> Purity inside.
