{"id":8309,"date":"2017-06-10T13:45:21","date_gmt":"2017-06-10T13:45:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spiritdaily.org\/blog\/?p=8309"},"modified":"2017-06-28T15:03:53","modified_gmt":"2017-06-28T15:03:53","slug":"a-most-unpleasant-but-urgent-topic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spiritdaily.org\/blog\/a-most-unpleasant-but-urgent-topic\/","title":{"rendered":"A Most Unpleasant But Urgent Topic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7508 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/spiritdaily.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/logoinside.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"45\" \/><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ocregister.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/0608_nws_ocr-l-dying-01.jpg?w=525\" alt=\"0608_nws_ocr-l-dying-01\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The photo above, via AP, was in \u00a0the\u00a0Orange County\u00a0<em>Register<\/em> last week, and it is fairly horrendous.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The smiling faces, at the bedside of an obviously infirm woman?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">It&#8217;s not to lift her spirits, as much as to say a final &#8212; very final &#8212; good-bye.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000; font-size: 14pt;\">For this was a &#8220;Right To Die&#8221; party. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Diagnosed with ALS (<em>Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis<\/em>, also known as Lou Gehrig&#8217;s disease), Betsey Davis preferred not to end up on a ventilator and feeding tube, and so she got a prescription, in California, to kill herself.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Her sister Kelly is there, reassuring and joshing with her.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A short while later, <\/span>as the caption reads, &#8220;at the end of the party, the 41-year-old woman diagnosed with ALS took a cocktail of lethal drugs and died, becoming one of the first California residents to take life-ending drugs under a new law that gave such an option to the terminally ill. A state law allowing physician-assisted deaths went into effect in June 2016.&#8221; <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000; font-size: 14pt;\">Really, it is: evil.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/commons\/thumb\/2\/20\/Legality_of_Assisted_Suicide_in_the_US.svg\/400px-Legality_of_Assisted_Suicide_in_the_US.svg.png\" width=\"309\" height=\"191\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">On the map, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>dark blue<\/strong><\/span> equals legal euthanasia. California, like Oregon &#8212; like the state of Washington, like the District of Columbia, like Vermont &#8212; have chosen a course that will pay dark dividends. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">New York and New Jersey are now considering doing the same (they&#8217;re represented <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>at\u00a0<em>left<\/em> in yellow<\/strong><\/span>).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Evil is the word live spelled backwards<\/span> and now California, Oregon, and Vermont &#8212; Colorado, Montana &#8212; \u00a0are turning the term &#8220;humanitarian&#8221; backwards.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">According to the national nonprofit Compassion &amp; Choices, since June 9, 2016, at least 504\u00a0terminally ill adults in California have received prescriptions for the lethal drugs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Let it sink in that pharmacies are dispensing drugs like Seconal (a sedative that costs around $3,500 per prescribed dose) and other sedatives (one combination that stops the heart is about $600) to those who seek to end their lives. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000; font-size: 14pt;\">Let us pray.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">For this leads to a bleak entry into the afterlife.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Noted a fellow named Ashler Elmekiess:\u00a0<span class=\"auto-style4\">&#8220;My ex-life ended when I tried to take my own life with over seventy medicinal tablets, over 26 of which were aspirin 500 mg. That night I had a &#8216;before-death experience.&#8217;<\/span><\/span><br class=\"auto-style4\" \/><br class=\"auto-style4\" \/><span class=\"auto-style4\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8220;It was dark everywhere<\/span> yet there were sparkles all around like little stars. I was sitting (don&#8217;t know on what, it was like there was no ground or nothing beneath me) and was not breathing or feeling anything. When I tried to touch my body, my hand went right through it.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"auto-style7\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Said Angie Fenimore, a young mom who took her own life &#8212; but through God&#8217;s Mercy returned [<em>see a video clip below<\/em>] &#8212; &#8220;I was passing over into a different sphere.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><span class=\"auto-style7\">My soul was disconnecting from my body with a hum that kept growing louder, rising to a whine as the vibration of death pulled me deeper.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"auto-style7\">Where was I? I was immersed in darkness. My eyes seemed to adjust, and I could see clearly even though there was no light. The darkness continued in all directions and seemed to have no end, but it wasn&#8217;t just blackness, it was an endless void, an absence of light. It was completely enveloping.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"auto-style7\">I swung my head around to explore the thick blackness and saw, to my right, standing shoulder to shoulder, a handful of others.
