The story out of a public school in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.upworthy.com\/florida-deputy-delivers-baby\" target=\"_self\">Florida<\/a>\u00a0has parents and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.upworthy.com\/twitch-streamers-tip-teacher-working-at-ihop-2000-and-her-reaction-is-why-teachers-should-be-paid-more\" target=\"_self\">teachers<\/a>\u00a0alike up in arms.<\/p>\n<p>A Florida teacher was fired for giving her students zeros for missing assignments. Diane Tirado has been a teacher for years. Most recently, she was an eighth-grade history teacher at Westgate K-8 School in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Diane recently gave her students two weeks to complete an Explorer notebook project, but several\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.upworthy.com\/teacher-calls-out-parent-denial-of-kids-academic-performance-ex1\/\">students simply didn\u2019t hand it in<\/a>. Since there was zero work done, Diane gave them zeros.\u00a0The lowest possible grade that teachers can give students is a 50, even if they don\u2019t turn anything in. That means that an extremely poorly completed assignment is worth the same number of points as no assignment at all.\u00a0Hardly seems fair, right?
