A flash flood<span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<a class=\"css-povzk\" style=\"color: #000000;\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/08\/27\/world\/asia\/nepal-flood-cause-landslide-glacier-collapse.html\">triggered by glacial runoff<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>ripped through the region about an hour after their last communication, he said from his home in Kathmandu, Nepal. Hindus believe Mount Kailash is the home of Shiva, the god of destruction, transformation and meditation, and his wife, Parvati.
