{"id":87444,"date":"2026-10-15T09:08:28","date_gmt":"2026-10-15T13:08:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/spiritdaily.org\/blog\/?p=87444"},"modified":"2026-10-15T09:08:28","modified_gmt":"2026-10-15T13:08:28","slug":"nearly-every-catholic-health-care-institution-in-illinois-shielded-from-suicide-law-in-court-order","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spiritdaily.org\/blog\/nearly-every-catholic-health-care-institution-in-illinois-shielded-from-suicide-law-in-court-order\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Nearly Every Catholic Health Care Institution\u2019 in Illinois Shielded From Suicide Law in Court Order"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From <em>NCR<\/em>:<\/p>\n<p>Catholic health institutions in Illinois will enjoy broad protection against the state\u2019s assisted suicide law after a federal court expanded a block against the law to protect religious objectors from being forced to participate in it.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois earlier this year ruled in favor of multiple Catholic plaintiffs, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ewtnnews.com\/world\/us\/illinois-says-catholic-hospitals-won-t-have-to-promote-suicide-as-federal-lawsuit-plays-out\">Springfield Bishop Thomas Paprocki<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ewtnnews.com\/world\/us\/illinois-says-chicago-archdiocese-catholic-sisters-won-t-have-to-submit-to-state-suicide-law\">Chicago archbishop Cardinal Blase Cupich<\/a>, barring the state from requiring them to participate in the suicide regime there.
