I\u2019ve thought about fading ink, bad linework, and the existential horror of a misspelled word, but I never wondered whether the ink itself might raise my cancer risk. Swedish researchers just gave me a reason to rethink that terrifying blind spot.<\/p>\n<p>A new population-based study, published in the <a href=\"https:\/\/link.springer.com\/article\/10.1007\/s10654-025-01326-6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>European Journal of Epidemiology<\/em><\/a>, suggests tattooed people have a 29 percent higher risk of developing melanoma than people without tattoos, even after accounting for sun exposure, tanning beds, skin type, and other known risk factors.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From Vice.com: I\u2019m covered in tattoos.
