YOUNG FATHER IN SOUTH CAROLINA RECOUNTS DEATH, TRIP TO HEAVEN, AND SECRET FROM JESUS

Do you live forever?

No question.

What's it like?

Recently, we wrote about the experiences of a young boy whose book, Heaven Is Real, has become a phenomenon, even in secular stores. It has sold almost two million copies -- obviously striking a chord. There is also a far lesser-known but equally fascinating and even more detailed book now out by Kay and Bobby Brunson of Charleston, South Carolina.

It's called When Lightning Strikes: One Man's Journey to Heaven and Back and is entitled as that because as a young dad Bobby, who worked for the railroad, was literally "killed" by a bolt of lightning as he touched his daughter's bike during the approach of a nasty storm.

He was clinically "dead" for 28 minutes. That was what emergency responders recorded.

In actuality, Bobby was in another world.

"Suddenly, I was there -- that place that is so frequently talked about but often shrouded in mystery," writes the South Carolina man. "I was standing in Heaven. It was the most amazing sense of being home that I have ever felt in my life. As a matter of fact, earth was an incredibly pale comparison to my real home there in Heaven.

"I can close my eyes today and see it, but I can't describe it.

"I can tell you that it's the most breathtaking experience you could ever imagine, but the words 'beautiful and breathtaking' pale in comparison to the reality of what Heaven looks like.

"The simple description of Heaven is Creation in perfection. There is green grass and trees with green leaves, but the color green in its purest form. The streets really are gold, but it's not the same as the gold we see here. It's perfect and pure because there are no impurities -- anywhere!

"There are gates that I can't even begin to describe to you because their ornate design is like nothing I've ever seen on earth. To look at one of those gates made of pure pearl, with a design that perfectly matched its size and dimension, is breathtaking. But perhaps one of the most beautiful parts of Heaven is the water. There are no words to even come close to water in its purest, perfect state as it gently moves along the shore."

While on the other side, writes Bobby, he encountered his father, who looked terrific (he had died two months before) and urged Bobby to stop grumbling about church -- about the music, about dry sermons -- and instead pray for the pastor. A lesson here! "Hello, Robert," were his first unforgettable words as he explained to his son that God can accomplish "what would take you two years" in just "two minutes."

Heaven, he writes, is "light years" better than the best day imaginable on earth.

"This may be hard for you to understand, but I didn't miss my family," adds Bobby. "It sounds horrible to say. However, you can't interpret it with any earthly understanding. It has nothing to do with comparison. I'm not saying that Heaven was so great that I didn't care about being with my family. I'm saying that whatever the emotion or attachment in our hearts that causes us to miss our families when we're away for a while or you lose a loved one doesn't exist in Heaven. I didn't forget them; I just didn't miss them." He knew he would be seeing them again!

In addition to his father -- and assorted other acquaintances -- Bobby claims to encountered Jesus. He just knew it was Him.

"He didn't look like any picture you've ever seen," says Brunson, "but He was beautiful. I looked at my dad. He wasn't surprised, but I sure was! I felt like a little kid. I'm standing next to Jesus! I wish I could describe Him to you, but I can't. As hard as it is to describe the perfect creation of Heaven, it is even harder to describe the most perfect One of all -- Jesus."

The visible image of the Invisible God.

The most perfect of all!

When he looked at Bobby, the South Carolinian was flooded with "the most incredible" sense of unconditional love. It was Jesus Who informed him that he had to return to earth ("It's time to go now").

Before Bobby did, he says he asked the Lord when He was coming back, and Jesus said He could not tell him just when that would be, because if He did, humans would wait until the last possible moment to convert.

"But I can tell you this," Bobby asserts the Lord told him, looking like He was about to let Bobby in on something:

"I'm coming back soon -- sooner than you think."
