If You Want To Be Happy, Have Enthusiasm About Your Special 'Station' In This Life
Our God is a God of enthusiasm. Did you realize that? The more enthusiastic you are -- in life, in love, in goodness -- the closer you are to Him. It is an enthusiastic God Who created us all (along with unimagined realms).
Are you enthusiastic? Do you have energy for your mission in life? Have you contemplated what that mission is?
To be enthusiastic in this case is to live out the meaning of the word, for enthusiasm comes from two Greek terms, en and Theos, meaning "to be in God."
As one priest pointed out, miracles happen when we really and enthusiastically place our lives in the Hands of God. There is no limit to what we can accomplish in His power. When we are not afraid, but trust in God, and persist in our life role, we always find ourselves with 12 baskets left over!
To be enthusiastic is to be optimistic. It is to take the bull by the horns. It is to realize that earthly life is temporary -- and must be lived to the fullest. To be enthusiastic is to realize at every moment that eternity awaits us and that no "tragedy" is a tragedy in the scheme of the eternal; it is a learning experience, to be grasped, accepted, and dealt with enthusiastically, as Christ grasped His.
Which means that we are not to get discouraged. We are not to get depressed. We are not to be indifferent.
Life is difficult and exciting and must be approached with vigor if we are to fulfill our life missions.
Why do we get discouraged? Why do we become indifferent? Why do we lack energy?
Often, we don't feel like going on because we think we have a trivial role. We're not content with our "station in life." We believe we are doing the wrong thing. We believe we were meant for "greater" things.
Sometimes, we do have to shift roles. We have gone the wrong route. But often it is pride talking and it can ruin your life. Pride drives us to place ourselves in roles that were not designed for us, because we want to be "respected" by the standards of worldly "success." When we do that, anxiety awaits us.
Great souls are placed at every "station of life." God has put everyone in spots where they can benefit others. He has placed us to minister. He has positioned us to fight the spiritual war on all levels -- whether in a board room or on a construction site.
Our mission in life is to teach and test each other in the way of love. You may have more opportunity to touch others as a cleaning woman than a stockbroker. Who then has the greater mission?
It's when we try to climb out of our assignment that we cause ourselves discontent. It's when we try to escape our station that we become negative. And negativity drains your energy.
God is positive and to connect with Him, we have to be positive (just like connecting cables between batteries).
If you don't like the restaurant you were in last week, enthusiasm should take you beyond criticizing it.
Enthusiasm is gratitude and praising Him, which opens the way to miracles.
To be positive is to be enthusiastic and to be enthusiastic is to exude spiritual energy. To be positive is to start self-healing. To be positive is to attach love to everything. If we're kind, we'll find joy. We all encounter both positive and negative experience during life, and one of the tests is to rise above the negative ones with enthusiasm.
Enthusiasm is the energy that transcends darkness!
We can never be "fed up." We can never be intolerant. When we die, we will not take our homes and cars with us. We will not take our clothes or our careers. We will take the good we have done to others in the station God placed us and we will be propelled upward by the fuel of our enthusiasm for God, Whose enthusiasm (thank God) is endless.
