Perhaps you've heard of him.
Probably you have not.
He was a devout Catholic in a mountain village in Brazil and in recorded history he is the most spectacular healer, excepting of course Jesus, who ever lived. (You are reading this right, at least in what can be gleaned from historical and scientific documents.)
In fact, his cures are beyond precedent, more stunning even than ones attributed to famous saints.
Only Christ healed in a way that was more spectacular.
Cures of every form of cancer? "Surgeries" that took seconds and necessitated no stitches? Stunningly, surgery with a crude kitchen knife -- and no antiseptic, no anesthesia, no blood?
And: more than three hundred patients a day -- arriving by the busload, waiting in long lines, for two decades?
It's all true, and very well recorded, as you will see in a moment. Even the president of Brazil went to him! As did priests (though others fretted it was witchery). Medical doctors from across Latin America and also the U.S. studied and filmed him up-close and restudied him. Dozens of medical professionals were convinced that what they were seeing was vastly beyond anything science could explain.
It was supernatural. It is an amazing Catholic story.
Who was this? How could he have accomplished what he did? What were his most spectacular cures? Most importantly (as we will see): was it from God?
