When we die, we'll see underneath.
What does "underneath" mean?
We all know it means below the surface. And so it is. When we die, we'll have spiritual eyes, and with those eyes, we'll be amazed at what, during life, was beneath us.
Think of water. You are in a boat. You may see a fish, a mullet, jump here or there, or a turtle sunbathing, but you have no real clue as to how many turtles or fish are under your skiff.
You are kayaking. The water seems calm, to the point of lifelessness. Placid. But beneath, perhaps resting on the creek or river bottom, is a large alligator.
Or whatever: on the ocean, a whale, a giant octopus, a shark. When we are on solid ground, there may be gold below the surface; hidden treasure.
Beneath us, in life, inaccessible with the natural eyes, can be beauty and opportunity or danger -- often a mix. Are we standing on a cave or solid ground? Are there bones beneath us or is new life set to burst forth?
Knowing what's around us is always preferable to not knowing, and there is a solution: surrendering our senses.
Surrender your senses to Jesus. Give your body over to the Holy Spirit. Hand the Lord your ears and eyes and He will replace them -- at least in part, in accordance with His Will -- with supernatural eyes and ears. With those senses, we will also see what is around and behind others.
On earth, no natural eye sees what awaits us in Heaven (1 Corinthians 2:9); but the supernatural eye does. To see in the supernatural we must see through the sensibilities of faith, surrender, and love. "Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him."
And with the superluminary eye, and ear, and nose, with supernatural touch, we perceive entire realities not just below us but around us -- and around our bodies. We may suddenly see or feel what is causing us spiritual or physical pain, even sickness; and when we see such, we are often on the way to mitigating or even curing it. ("Physician, heal thyself.")
When that occurs, we are not only seeing but living in the supernatural, and when we are at that point -- with perfect faith, after surrender -- literally anything is possible.
