From Newsweek: A4.4 magnitude earthquake struck the Italian city of Naples overnight, causing damage to buildings and property and sparking fear among residents, but few reports of injuries.
Seismologists at Italy’s National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) said the tremor hit at 1:25 a.m. local time on Thursday at a shallow depth of two kilometers (1.2 miles). The U.S. Geological Survey recorded a 4.2 magnitude earthquake at a depth of 6.2 miles. It was one of the strongest earthquakes Naples has felt in recent years. Two smaller tremors followed the biggest.
