President Joe Biden will travel to Italy in January for a meeting with Pope Francis in what will likely be the final international trip of his term.
Biden’s trip will take place Jan. 9-12. The lame-duck U.S. leader will meet with the pontiff on Jan. 10 and separately with Italian President Sergio Mattarella and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, the White House said.The president and the pope will discuss efforts to advance peace around the world, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said.
