To the extent that true faith is diluted in the world and paganism returns, witches, sorcerers, shamans, etcetera are more in number, more active, and more people turn to them, in an attempt (a vain one) to manipulate the spiritual world.

This is all in part because reference points for what is bad and what is good have been lost.

And so occult intermediaries turn to spiritual forces to do the work, often not knowing where they come from, or believing they are not negative, and other times dabbling outright with forces they know are decidedly dark.

Therefore today we are all more at risk of being targeted by such work than in previous decades.

Here we will talk about the precautions that must be taken to avoid being affected by these works, what the symptoms of having received a curse are, and how to act to free yourself, when you suspect you have received a curse or simply believe you have received it.

There are some people, even Catholics, who claim that curses are harmless.

And they advise people to ignore them, and even say that the Catholic media should not report on it.

It is the eternal error of the uninformed, who have not taken the time to read the Bible, and who interpret that anything that causes them fear has the intention of causing fear — when in fact all these things are biblical.

At this time, it is important to be aware of the increasing audacity with which the enemy acts in the spiritual warfare that is waged around us, in which curses have the hidden mission of extending the influence of the evil one on earth.

Important information was given by Father Gabriele Amorth, who said that the absolute majority of the exorcisms and liberations in his career have been of people who have meddled with witchcraft or curses.

This has increased today, because paganism is back in the world. And with it witchcraft, sorcery, and magicians, who use hidden forces to cast spells and change reality.

Today we see an explosive growth of witchcraft, in its modern occult feminist packaging.

And it is part of the greatest power that the evil one has obtained in the last century.

Which makes demons more difficult to evict from the possessed, exorcisms to take more time, and the number of people who make pacts with evil to grow precariously.

In witchcraft the concept of a devilish pact or at least an appeal to the intervention of evil spirits is involved. 

This is because there are only two types of spirits, those that tend to good and those that tend to evil.

And if spirits that are not declaredly possessors of good are invoked, then evil spirits are being invoked in disguise. [scroll for more:]

This is not understood by the uninformed and the beginners in witchcraft, but it is by those who practice it for a while.

Witchcraft can be done to awaken the passion of love in those who are the object of desire, or to call the dead, or to bring calamity or impotence on enemies and rivals.

And how can you tell when someone is engaged in witchcraft?

Father Amorth has said that to the extent that Christian sacraments have visible signs such as bread and wine in the Eucharist and prayer, evil spells also have theirs. They are such as clothes, photographs, personal objects that are cursed by the witch with formulas and rituals, and invocations through prayers, to produce spiritual effects on the affected people.

Exorcists say that curses, witchcraft, spells, or whatever you want to call them, have power only through the intervention of demons, not as a result of the magical powers of a particular person, even if those who practice magic — witches, sorcerers, seers, etcetera — deny it or don’t know it.

And that the very magic they practice ultimately opens them up to demonic influence and even possession.

They are committing a serious sin in the Eyes of God, but also the consequences that they will have in the long term will be disastrous, because the devil never keeps the promises of protection to those who work for him.

There are regions of the world and even religions, where magic and the invocation of unknown or evil spirits are considered correct and where it is part of their spirituality.

And perhaps the most typical case of this is the voodoo that is practiced in Haiti, a country that was consecrated to the devil.

And it is what explains the tribulations that the Caribbean country has persistently faced. We have made a video on this.

And how does a person who has been cursed experience witchcraft?

When a curse is applied to someone, if God allows it, the force of evil is released so that it can act fulfilling the design, although in some cases God does not allow it and therefore the curse does not take effect.

Until a curse that has worked is broken, the demons will continue to operate in the life of the cursed person.

And they may even continue to do so in subsequent generations.

A curse or hex can involve physical or emotional suffering and problems in the social and work life of the cursed person.

Physical or mental illnesses, emotional or behavioral problems, that defy treatment.

They may also suffer from persistent poverty and lack of achievement despite the amount of effort put into resolving them.

Fears, addictions, suicidal thoughts, repeated accidents.

Inability to maintain a relationship or to find a partner or to have a child.

And there are specific physical signs that can include headaches, body aches, or lethargy.

Mental or emotional signs such as sudden changes in tastes or inclinations, bad luck, and nightmares. 

And often, the victim will be unable to identify the culprit behind the curse.

If a person is truly under a curse, the only way to remove it is to do just the opposite.

If a person has been wronged by invoking the devil, then the person has to invoke God to protect him, help him, and bless him.

Because good is always stronger than evil.

And a person’s success in drawing God’s power against a curse will be proportional to the level of their faith.

But it happens that many times people proudly overestimate their faith, thinking it’s deep just because it makes them frantically pray for relief, and sometimes not deep enough to get that relief.

Catholics will find strength in their faith by making frequent and fervent use of the Sacraments, especially through very humble and contrite confessions, and by receiving Holy Communion with devotion and love. 

You should never go to santeros or witches to do an opposite job, because they are resorting again to the dark forces.

Nor should you try to reverse a curse by invoking harm on the person or persons responsible for the curse.

You must do the four things that Jesus asks us to do in relation to our enemies, especially those who call curses on us, described in Luke 6:27

These are: love your enemy, do good to your enemy, pray for your enemy, and invoke God’s special blessings on your enemy.

To break curses, one must invoke angels and saints, the guardian angel and patron saint, Archangel Michael, and especially the Virgin Mary, who is prophesied to crush the head of the serpent.

And of course, any available natural relief from the effects of the curse should be sought: medical, financial, psychological, etcetera, as one would with a disease or any painful situation.

One must remain meditative and expectant under the Cross of Jesus (go to Him personally!) and symbolically cover oneself with His Precious Blood, as a shield to deflect the attacks of evil in the afflictive curse. 

Pray deliverance prayers.

And until the time comes to be released from the curse, strive to adjust to each subtle nudge of Providence, with faith and trust in Jesus as healer and exterminator of demons.

Also offer the sufferings that result from the curse.

This unique type of suffering must be linked to the Passion of Jesus, to His redemptive suffering.

Suffering, even that caused by malicious humans, should not be wasted.

Like any difficulty, it can be used for the sanctification and consequent reward of the person to reach Heaven.

And in the most rebellious cases, the person should approach a Ministry of Liberation so that they can be prayed over, and if the case is even more difficult, one may have to consult an exorcist.

However,  the ideal is to be careful, put on the armor of God, and develop a strong trust in Him to prevent curses, because Christians are always the focus of those who deny God.

Sacramental life is the most powerful protection.

And also to abandon oneself to God, because He does not want us to be afraid, but only to be vigilant, prudent, and wise in the spiritual battle.

Pray the Rosary, read the Bible, talk to God every day, and examine your conscience, attend Mass frequently, even daily.

Make the Sign of the Cross with Holy Water every day, place a blessed Crucifix and an image of the Blessed Virgin in the house, remove objects suspected of having been cursed, and wear sacramentals such as medals on top.

Well, so far  what we wanted to report on how to combat witchcraft and curses, because it is a phenomenon that is growing in the world and has increasing effect, because people are moving further and further away from God.
