America’s Third-World Destiny?

August 10, 2018 by sd

In the end, it may be part of a nation’s destiny.

In the news of late: Fox TV host Laura Ingraham, fretting over the demographic make-up of America.

The same angst has been expressed by other commentators, and the president himself.

Many in the general populace share the concern: that the ethnic identity of the U.S. is now in its past, with Caucasians — once the dominant group — within a couple decades destined to be a minority, as they are already in once Beach-Boy-white California.

The anxiety, in many ways, is understandable: whites fear retribution from those who have felt (rightly or wrongly) like oppressed minorities, and now have somewhat of an upper hand.

There is also the economic side: fear that many immigrants will turn the nation into one where the impoverished too heavily outweigh the middle class. Meanwhile, the gap between rich and poor has never been greater — leading the wealthy to fear an outright revolt a la the French Revolution.

Is it all in the cards?

As our borders have crumbled, and as the landscape of many major states has radically changed — resembling Mexico or Nicaragua or Honduras more than the United States, in some cases — a prophecy by former atheist, now preacher, Howard Storm comes to mind, in which he said — quoting angels, during a near-death experience — that because of its failings (including sharing wealth and hygenic and other technology with nations in need), it was going to be reduced to a third-world nation, with shortages of resources and internal turmoil and conflict.

We’ve seen the glimmerings of all of the above.

Recall the aftermaths of “Katrina” and “Irma” and September 11 (when our transportation infrastructure collapsed).

Is it destiny?

Better asked: is there time to share our blessings — to reverse course — and to focus on improving the outlooks of those who continue to enter this great nation? If so, will the immigrants cooperate — working at attaining the status of middle class and forsaking opposition to those who are in power; or is the end-game etched in theric stone?
