God willing, we’ll be at Medway, Massachusetts May 16 to address those attending the fiftieth anniversary of the first apparitions of the Virgin Mary at Betania, Venezuela, in 1986 to the mystic Maria Esperanza.

It brings to mind what Esperanza, who died in 2004, and whose apparitions were formally approved by the Church, had to say about future events.

Q: So we are at a crucial juncture of history. Many evils threaten us, and we will face a “serious” moment—a revolution in general—but in the end we will open the door to a better, more God-loving world. That seems to be your message, but many other visionaries are a bit more foreboding.
A: Perhaps—I don’t know—because they say this is going to come, that is going to come… I think, yes, well, maybe, yes, some of this will come, but I don’t want to think that the Lord is going to abandon us and give the power of the devil to men so that they completely disintegrate. It can’t be that way…
A very difficult moment will arrive, but there will remain good because the Light and the Grace of the Holy Spirit will always illumine a few people who still desire justice in the world—the truth and the recognition of Jesus with His love throughout all time. This is at least a little bit of hope for people, because people can get panicked.
You have to give to the consciousness of men the message that this world can change, and that everything is going to be in the right way, that it is going to be very well. We cannot go back. We cannot step backward but rather we must take a step forward. We have to go step by step in a balanced way. We must be balanced in all that we do and think. A very great balance. The truly spiritual life requires great balance. The messages are a teaching of wisdom and humility. We must have hope for humankind, for humanity.
Q: But you are not denying a major chastisement?
A: Our Lady is coming to lighten it. She comes to give us strength, to resist temptations. This is why we have sicknesses in these times: because man has abused the things that God has given us. Man is disobeying.
Here is a message from around March 4, 1989: “My little children, you see me. Here I am, ready, at the service of all of you who arrive to visit me in search of my fountains of holy water in order to bathe your bodies and to purify your hearts, full of hopes, consolations, and spiritual peace.
“My little children, go forward. The journey is long. It is the pilgrimage of a lifetime, in search of hope, the promised hope of a wonderful day.
“My little children, those of you who love my Divine Son are invited to enter fully into our temple of nature, because the principles of love, of human docility, and of Christian fervor will be your guide.
“These are teachings in order that you will understand the essence which is contained in the commandments for new life and founded so that everyone will come to me full of faith and humility, and will come to the heart of this Mother to ask for her maternal protection in order to take refuge there. Mary, Reconciler of Nations, your guide.
“And here, that each person who comes near me will be heard and helped, because I am the mother of the hungry, I am the hope of the thirsty and the afflicted who need hope and protection.
“My little children, here you have really come to discern my message and to listen at the same time. In the morning, the song of the birds, being able to see my figure at the foot of the trees by the grotto, the waters flowing over the rocks of the spring, singing to my Lord.
“Oh, my little children, my mystical glance will be fixed upon every face!
“I can look into the depths of your hearts and see the desire of an interior renewal in order to analyze and contemplate all of those beautiful things which are hidden, which are enclosed in this temple of nature.
“I have chosen all of my children to receive this. My little children, go forward. You will have the ability to understand the heavenly wonders that exist here and with your desire and will, you will be able to take part in the banquet of love that we offer you—my Divine Son and His mother—so that you will live a new life singing to the Lord His songs of love.
“And now, my little children, I recommend to you to pray, saying all the time, ‘Blessed are You, Lord. Rest here. Take shelter in my heart.”
