Tampa– Erika Poremski says she stepped outside to get something from her car when her home was quickly engulfed in flames. She says she’s tried to rescue her 8-month-old daughter, but the heavy smoke made it difficult.
When firefighters arrived and rescued the infant from her second-floor bedroom, they found the family’s dog, Polo, laying on top of the girl, covering her with his entire body.
