From Aleteia:
On October 24, another spiritual son of St. Padre Pio was recognized as “venerable” in the Catholic Church. His name is Brother Daniele Natale and he was very close to Padre Pio, the famous mystic, during his life, having been born in the same town of San Giovanni Rotondo and later spending time with him when he became a lay brother in his same religious order.
In 1952, Brother Daniele was diagnosed with a type of spleen cancer. He was referred to a doctor in Rome, who examined Brother Daniele and initially did not want to operate on him. The doctor believed the cancer was too advanced and that there would be no chance of survival. Eventually, various doctors on the case agreed to operate, but after the operation, Brother Daniele slipped into a coma and was pronounced “dead.” What happened next sounds like it came out of a movie.
