From The God of Miracles:
“Live in the Voice of God.” When we do that, when we live for Him, when we sacrifice, and when we repent, God often responds with a miracle. A blunder is followed by a wonder. Persist, strive to help others, do so with enthusiasm, with fearlessness. Now you are headed for the deep areas of faith and contact with the God of miracles.
Simply put, surrender.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding,” says Psalms 3:5-6. “In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
In other words, He will communicate if you let go and go with His flow. The God of miracles is a God Who talks and will direct you. He spoke the world into existence. He spoke and the Word was made flesh. Any good thought we have is derived from Him. All the brilliant ideas, all the innovations that lead to good, all the ways we have evolved in a positive fashion, were all whispered to us, originating in the Spirit. His communication with us is basically the soft touch of direction, the sensation of “feeling right.”
Usually He does so in a fashion that is exquisitely subtle – so subtle that it’s hard to distinguish from your own thoughts. He plants ideas, and we are free to choose or reject them.
They are a spontaneous “knowing”; they are “promptings” or hunches.
God infuses us with His knowledge; aside from life itself, aside from our very consciousness, aside from the very way He holds things together, it is His most common miracle.
I once heard a “voice” that saved me from a fire, and had a premonition of being in a smoke-filled home the week before it happened. He caused that because He loves us. His Voice has also saved you—has led you not to go somewhere at a certain time, has kept you out of harm’s way, has changed your routine when you could have been in an accident—more times than you know.
