After the act of vandalism that shook Medjugorje and numerous faithful, Ivan Dragićević, one of the six visionaries of Medjugorje, invited them to peace, prayer, forgiveness, and conversion.

In an interview with Net.hr, he stated that the faithful must not allow the hatred committed to provoke new hatred.

“Madonna has been inviting us for decades to peace, to conversion, and to prayer. That is why even today we must not allow hatred to generate new hatred,” said Dragićević.

“Our response is not fear, but faith.”

He invited the faithful to pray also for those who committed this act, emphasizing that perhaps it is precisely they who need God’s mercy the most.

“Praying that the Lord touches their hearts and fills them with His peace,” he said.

Medjugorje is not built only on stone.

Reflecting on the event that caused sadness and outrage, Dragićević reminded that the strength of Medjugorje does not lie in the buildings, but in the prayer of millions of pilgrims who over the decades have sought God, peace, and conversion.

“What comes from God cannot be defeated by human wickedness,” he emphasized.

For this reason, he urged the faithful to hold on even more tightly, after this event, to the Holy Mass, to the Eucharistic adoration, to fasting, to prayer of the Rosary, and to reading the Holy Scripture.

“May this event be an incentive to open our hearts even more to Christ,” he said.

Finally, he reiterated the message that has been linked to Medjugorje since the very beginning:

“May the same message that is heard from the first day resound from Medjugorje: Peace, peace, peace – and only peace. May peace reign between God and people and between all people.”
