From the London Telegraph:
Pope Leo XIV issued a veiled criticism of Donald Trump during his blessing of Antoni Gaudí’s Sagrada Familía Basilica in Barcelona. The Pope celebrated Mass at the still-unfinished church in Barcelona on Wednesday to mark the 100th anniversary of its architect’s death.
In a homily at the basilica, the Pope said people cannot consider themselves Christians if they “promote war”, echoing a previous disagreement between the Catholic leader and the US president. “We cannot believe in Jesus and promote war. We cannot believe in Jesus and kill the innocent,” the Pope said in front of thousands of worshipers, including Spanish King Felipe VI and his wife Queen Letizia.
