Stop Blocking Your Miracle

August 22, 2026 by sd

From Bible Worship:

Are you feeling completely exhausted right now? Do you feel like you are working day and night, calculating every penny, planning every move, and trying with all your might to fix your financial situation, yet nothing seems to change? You lie awake at night staring at the ceiling, wondering when your long-awaited breakthrough will finally arrive.

If this describes you, listen to me very carefully. You might be making a silent mistake that is actually blocking the very miracle you are praying for. You are trying to control everything, and by doing so, you are pushing God out of the driver’s seat of your life.

Today we are going to expose a spiritual truth most believers completely overlook. Control feels like responsibility. But in the spiritual realm, control is actually fear disguised as wisdom. When you try to control every outcome, you are telling God, “I trust my own hands more than I trust yours.” If you are praying for a financial breakthrough, but your hands are clenching the steering wheel so tightly that your knuckles are white, this message is for you.

Here are the seven signs that trying to control everything is delaying your financial breakthrough:

  1. You are constantly calculating and have lost your peace. You cannot sleep at night because your mind is constantly running numbers. You obsess over spreadsheets and banking apps trying to predict what will happen next month. You have convinced yourself that if you just plan perfectly, you can protect yourself from ruin. But Psalm 127:2 says, “It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil.” When you obsess over calculating every scenario, you are eating the bread of anxiety. Remember Peter in Luke 5? He was a professional fisherman who worked all night relying on his own control and caught absolutely nothing. But when Jesus told him to cast his nets into the deep—an instruction that logically made no sense—Peter surrendered. He said, “At your word, I will let down the nets.” The moment he traded calculation for obedience, his nets began to break with fish. Your breakthrough won’t come from obsessive calculations. Hand the math over to God.

  2. You are making panic-driven decisions. When you try to control your financial destiny, fear becomes your primary adviser. Fear tells you if you don’t take this shady deal right now, you will lose everything. Control always produces panic, and panic always produces Ishmael. In Genesis, God promised Abraham and Sarah a son. But Sarah got impatient with God’s timing and panicked. She took control and had Abraham sleep with Hagar, producing Ishmael. That act of human control brought pain and division for generations. Whenever you force a financial door open because you are panicking, you create an Ishmael. It brings endless headaches. Proverbs 10:22 says, “The blessing of the Lord makes rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.” Stop making decisions out of panic. God is not late.

  3. You have stopped being generous because of a scarcity mindset. When you trust God, you operate from abundance. When you try to control your finances, you shift into scarcity. You hoard every penny and stop giving, telling yourself you’ll be generous when your breakthrough comes. In Exodus 16, God provided daily manna from heaven and told the Israelites not to save any for the next day. But out of fear and a desire for control, some tried to hoard it. The Bible says it bred worms and stank. When you hoard your money out of fear, your finances begin to rot spiritually. You cut off the divine flow. Luke 6:38 says, “Give, and it will be given to you.” You cannot receive a breakthrough with closed fists. Prove to your mind that money does not control you by doing something generous today.

  4. You treat God as a consultant instead of the commander. There is a massive difference between asking God to bless your plans and asking God for his plans. When infected with the spirit of control, you make all your own financial decisions—what job to take, what business to start—and then you ask God to bless it. You are treating the Creator like a financial consultant. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart… In all your ways acknowledge him.” It doesn’t say in all your ways ask him to endorse your ideas. If your breakthrough is delayed, you might be walking a path God never told you to take. God is under no obligation to finance a vision he did not originate. Surrender your ambitions and ask, “Lord, what do you want me to do?” God always pays for what he orders.

  5. You refuse to take steps of faith that defy human logic. Control demands to see step two and three before taking step one. But faith does not operate in human logic. Hebrews 11:1 says, “Faith is the conviction of things not seen.” Look at the widow of Zarephath in 1 Kings 17. During a famine, she was about to make one final meal for her son before they starved. Then Elijah told her to make him a small cake first. Logically, this was financial suicide. Control would have said absolutely not. But she chose faith over control. Because she obeyed that illogical instruction, her jar of flour and jug of oil never ran out. God will often test your surrender by asking you to do something that scares you. If you demand God’s instructions make logical sense on a spreadsheet, you will miss your miracle.

  6. You tie your identity to your bank account. Why do we try to control our finances so desperately? Because many of us tie our self-worth to our net worth. When you have money, you feel important. When the account is low, you feel like a failure. Jesus warned in Luke 12:15, “One’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” Your value is not defined by your debt; it is defined by the blood of Jesus. God will sometimes allow your finances to dry up specifically to break this false identity. He wants you to learn that he is the solid rock at the bottom. When you detach your self-worth from your financial status, money loses its power over you. And when money no longer controls you, God can finally trust you with more of it.

  7. You are secretly angry at God for not doing things your way. Deep in your heart, you might harbor resentment. You prayed, you fasted, and you worked hard. Yet, the breakthrough hasn’t happened. You see others prospering and think, “God, why aren’t you doing what I asked?” This reveals you view your relationship with God as a transaction. Remember Naaman the leper in 2 Kings 5? He wanted Elisha to perform a dramatic healing. Instead, Elisha just told him to wash in the Jordan River. Naaman went away in a rage because he tried to control the method of his deliverance. Are you angry because God’s provision doesn’t look the way you expected? Isaiah 55:8 reminds us, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.” God’s plan for your financial freedom is infinitely better than yours. But to step into his plan, you must abandon yours.

Listen to me. The heavy burden you are carrying was never meant for your shoulders. God is waiting for the moment you finally say, “I give up. I surrender.” Surrender is not defeat; it is the only path to victory. If you are ready to let go, open your hands right now as a physical sign of releasing your grip, and pray with me:

Father, forgive us for trying to do your job today. We release the heavy burden of financial anxiety. We take our hands off our bank accounts and place them in your capable hands. We refuse to panic. We choose to trust your timing and your infinite wisdom. Bring the breakthrough, Lord, so that we may testify of your goodness, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

If this message spoke to you, write in the comments right now: “I surrender my finances to God.” Let that be your public declaration. Share this video, subscribe to the channel, and remember: you don’t have to control the storm when you know the one who can calm it. God bless you.
