The only place in England where Our Blessed Mother is honoured as Our Lady of England is Storrington, West Sussex. Having been an active shrine from the 1950s to the 1990s, it is now on the verge of becoming completely unknown and perhaps even dying out. What might be done to save such an important part of England’s Marian heritage?
At the height of the shrine’s renown, from the 1950s through the 1990s, it was the centre of great pilgrimages attended by people from across southern England and beyond. The shrine was known as the Lourdes of southern England.
