Where, indeed.
Firstly, on the matter of our times and what seems to be the lifting of spiritual blinders, with many now seeing the evil, including those who thought the evil was good.
“And a darkness came over the whole land, and the earth quaked; and the veil of the Temple was torn in two” (Luke 23:44).
Darkness. But the parting of a veil the cloaked so many eyes.
As for how we should view our lives here on planet earth, at a time of wanton sensuality and materialism:
“Have no love for the world,” 1 John 2:15-17 instructs, “nor anything that the world affords.
“If anyone loves the world, the Father’s Love has no place in him, for nothing that the world affords comes from the Father.
“Carnal allurements, enticements of the eye, the life of empty show—all these are from the world.
“And the world with its seductions is passing away but the man who does God’s Will endures forever.”
Not many scriptures are a better lesson for Lent than that.
