Dear Mr. Brown,

I read your article today about the life of Maria Esperanza. I was very much surprised by the recounting of Maria's face being transfigured into the face of Padre Pio and that her husband witnessed it happening.  I have never read of an encounter like this before and that is why I am writing.  I have also witnessed a similar thing once and it both shocked me and left me always wondering why and what it could mean.

One Easter morning when I was visiting my mother, she came into the kitchen where I was and her face was completely transfigured into my deceased Grandmothers face.  I stood in shock and just said "mom!" and she said "what?!)  I was afraid to tell her but she already knew what I was going to say. She just wanted to know she wasn't crazy. She said to tell her and I told her she looked exactly like Grandma.  Then she said, "I know!"  "What am I going to tell your father! she said, " I was looking in the mirror and then I turned into my mother". And that was it.  It went away.  We were both clueless as to what it could mean and we didn't share it with anyone, less they think we were crazy.

Have you ever heard of this happening to anyone else? Why did this happen? What did it mean? My Grandmother had died several year before, not the day before like Padre Pio.  There were no words, just the transfiguration.  She was a devout women who lived a self less life and had her share of hardships.  It was Easter morning.  Could it have been a way to let me mom know she was in heaven?

I would greatly appreciate any thoughts or insights you might have.

Thank you for reading my email and for any response you might have for me.

God's Blessing to you and your ministry,
