YOU'RE FULFILLING YOUR MISSION AND AT YOUR BEST WHEN YOU ARE STRIVING 'IN THE WILL OF GOD'

We had an article recently on weariness -- and fighting through it.

When we do, the rewards are rich.

In this life, we must go full bore on all cylinders but do so with balance (remember to vacation and to rest, especially on the Sabbath).

Enjoy life and live it to its fullness.

But work in the Lord's vineyard (translation: according to His Will after prayers to the Holy Spirit).

As on a tightrope (which life can be), balance is the key; with it we move ahead, unerringly. Did you see that fellow who prayed all the way across a tightrope over Niagara Falls?

Faith. Focus.

While on earth, you will never reach perfect relaxation. It is a place of testing and a place of mission. The word mission means a "calling." God has called you to something. Let it be what He has in mind, not what you do. Here, you will find peace.

When you are at your best, when you feel like the "real you," you are fulfilling your mission.

You are fulfilling your mission when you are focused but at peace, clear of mind, loving, generous, merciful, understanding, firm when you need to be firm, healthy of body, full of energy, without anger, or fear, strong in your conviction, disciplined. You are at your best and fulfilling your mission when you are in the Will of God.

You won't feel at your best every day. No. But it is in the striving (with balance) that we reach peak moments. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing," says 2 Timothy 4:6.

God does not judge by the standards of the world. And often, He judges not by our "accomplishments," but by how much we try; He judges our earnestness. He sees our motives. He wants to see how hard we fight past temptation and disappointment and discouragement.

A pure heart is worth more than election (to the highest high office).

Heed not the judgments of the world. You're at your best when you are striving (but not straining) in the cause of love and the Will of Christ.

"Not that I have become perfect yet: I have not yet won, but I am still running, trying to capture the prize for which Christ Jesus captured me. I can assure you my brothers, I am far from thinking that I have already won. All I can say is that I forget the past and I strain ahead for what is still to come; I am racing for the finish, for the prize to which God calls us upwards to receive in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:13-14).
