On the night of 26 to 27 July 2026, the church of Saint-Symphorien in Chambray-lès-Tours was left desecrated and vandalised with consecrated hosts thrown on the floor and excrement left near the entrance. Saint-Symphorien is the third church in the Indre-et-Loire region to be targeted in less than a week, with the churches of Sainte Geneviève and Sainte-Jeanne-d’Arc falling victim to thefts.
